What exactly are runeheavendoombirthstones?

The most I got was some connection to Reman Cyrodiil.

Anyone know about these or have theories?

Stay overs from the conception of Nirn or something?

A gameplay mechanism. There is no lore associated with them.

My opinion? Concentrated star-magic from Aetherius. Kind of like Welkynd / Varla Stones, but more permanent and focused in their power.

aCTUALLY I found a book in the game that talks about them. Basically its about a guy who tries to activate them but never does. He does alot of heroic things but never gets them to activate. He eventually dies of old age never having activated them. He came to the conclusion that they were waiting for some great hero or something.

There's http://imperial-library.info/content/interviews-doomstones in Oblivion. It's hardly definitive, but I think it's the only source about the stones in that game. In Skyrim, they are there for granting blessings, though as wolf mentions http://imperial-library.info/content/skyrim-watcher-stones. There's also a little bit about them in http://imperial-library.info/content/skyrim-explorers-guide-skyrim.

Okay thanks for the responses. Especially the links to the books Lady Nerevar.

Feels to me like they may have some tie with the Elder Scrolls as they seem to be directly related to the 'Heroes' of the Elder Scroll games. Since The Elder Scrolls appear Aedric in origin I believe the stones are similar. Or maybe not Aedric. Maybe Padomaic because of Lorkhan? Lorkhan-ic?

I like the sound of it though. Say it to yourself. Lorkhan Stones...

Good enough for me to run with in any case. There to guide the heroes along their paths to achieving their ultimate destinies. Multiple paths to the same destination. Just a thought.

I haven't looked at the distribution in Skyrim, but the Sidri-Ashak (I believe) stones in Oblivion were oriented in the shape of the Apprentice.
