It's ruining the image of the shield for me ... why do I have a shield when I go into 3rd person and I see arrows going through my wrist, might as well use my wrist to block arrows.

well.. it;s true for all armour... arrows sticking in my chest while health is at 98% don't look really realistic either.
in fact arrows should bounce off, just like they do when you fire on a flame atronarch... they do harm on it, but dont penatrate it.
perhaps u can use that mechanics to adapt the mechanics for armour.

Yeah, I hate it when they do that. If you go into your inventory, you'll usually find those arrows listed. If you drop them, they'll no longer be embedded in you or your armor. You can then pick them up again, if you want.

Sure. Running at full tilt with an arrows struck through your hip/ leg doesn't look realistic, but I might find too many detailed realism factors more annoying than that in the long run.

Actually, i've found that just equipping them gets rid of (most of) them.

I think a quick way to remove arrows would be to wait for one hour, but to quickly press cancel before the "wait" begins. Voila, no more arrows :D

The only 'shield' my character uses vs archers is Spike the clannfear. She normally disappears when she summons him. Sometimes he gets hit before he kills the archer. When he does, Buffy goes into his inventory (mod) to remove the arrow, then heals him before sending him home with a kiss on his adorable little black nose.

Meatshields are a tried and true method of avoiding damage. My Spellsword as a master alterationist (?) rather summons golems though, as they are magically animated inanimate objects you don't need to feel bad about them taking a beating ^_^

Yeah, but watch how people interact with their dogs, and we know where those tongues have been, too!

Desdaemone feels the same way about her clannfear, Lucy. Clannfear summons are special. They go off seeking out threats to their conjurer, and then, when all is well, they come back and practically beg for praise.

They also seem to draw the AI's attention quicker than some summons. On the arrow thing, I've found that if Desdaemone calls Lucy immediately upon encountering an archer, there's no need for invisibility, dodging, arrow removal from oneself, etc. Lucy gets the archer's full attention. :)
