Installing the official Oblivion patch instead of the offici

I have Shivering Isles installed with a bunch of official plug ins (Knights of the Nine), and the SI patch doesn't offer the ability to choose the performance level in the launch option. Is it gonna mess up the game if install the official Oblivion patch instead of the SI one? I require to play my game on very low, where everything looks all bright and crappy, and you can't do that in options during the game as well. Only the official Oblivion patch does. It seems like a downgrade if they didn't offer that option.

That's just the difference in which launcher the game uses...... If you use a short cut to the launcher in the game directory, you should have the options, if you use whatever comes up in the autorun when you stick the disk in, chances are you won't see it.

I tried running the launcher from the folder itself, but I still don't see the options to tune down the graphics. I don't see why it would change that though.

It has the option to set the video quality preset from very low to high, which is exactly what I want, but it's faded out for some reason, which means I can't click the video quality setting. And my adapter and resolution is blank as well.

Did you install it correctly? (should be in the same directory as your oblivion.exe file.....) might try just running the game once, and see if it autodetects stuff.....
