Which faction are gonna end up ruling Tamriel in the future?

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 8:16 pm

In my opinion, i think the Aldmeri Dominion would be the rulers of tamriel eventually. The empire are losing too much troops in the war with the stormcloaks and they also lost their redguard allies. The argonians seems strong, but i think they lost all their fuel after conquering morrowind. I don't think any other major factions in tamriel could stand up to the thalmor. Akavir failed twice already and the daedra had their shot but with the jaws of oblivion shut forever, they could never launch a fullscale invasion to conquer tamriel.

The Thalmor aren't exactly in a position to take over Tamriel. They lost their main army in the Great War and were defeated by the Redguards in Hammerfell. Even if the Imperials and Stormcloaks hate each other, they hate the Thalmor a lot more and would likely work together against them should the Thalmor drop their peaceful facade.

The Thalmor do not want to rule Tamriel, they seek to undo it.

No faction has ever ruled Tamriel in its entirety. The Cyrodiils never ruled Hammerfell or Morrowind, and even the provinces were ruled locally as more or less autonomous nations.

Really? I thought at one point (especially during Morrowind and Oblivion's time period), the Empire had ruled all of the provinces, but then started losing some of them (Morrowind and Black Marsh were taken over, right? Hammerfell, Valenwood, Elsweyr, and Summerset Isles were certainly lost once the Thalmor rose against the Empire).

Morrowind was largely autonomous. There was a king, but he was just an Imperial puppet that didn't do much anyway. The Tribunal ran everything from a central level, and when the Tribunal waned, Helseth took over.

Imperial Forts still dotted the province. Imperial Troops still occupied the town.

Vassalage still counts. Morrowind was completely and functionally a part of the Empire. Citizens paid Imperial taxes, Imperial Law was enforced.

Right, Imperial Law was enforced... Like how slavery was legal in Morrowind, but illegal elsewhere in the Empire....

The Guild of Drunken Merchant Mudcrabs and Scamps are taking over. Everything done has been to their end for their future domination.

The empire is no longer an empire, really. Vur'Kha does not acknowledge them much. Thalmor are hated by many, and could surely be doing better. Not that despising humankind makes one very popular. Vur'Kha believes the many provinces will rule themselves for some time, which may or may not be good.

Who may know? Vur'Kha is not a seer.

The Guild of Drunken Merchant Mudcrabs and Scamps are taking over. Everything done has been to their end for their future domination.

It is all so clear to Vur'Kha now, surely we are doomed.

the Empire will fall, provinces will rule themselves and then the Empire will rise again. It's pretty much inevitable that another strong power will eventaully seek to rule the world and only humans can really do that because of reproduction and all, and it stands to reason that most of the humans (Bretons, Nords and Imperials) will want the Imperial city as it's capitol. I'd imagine that the Redguards would want the same, though I'm not entirely sure. Regardless, it's just a matter of time. Either a new Empire comes at the end of this Era or the Kalpa is ended a new one is born, and then a new Empire comes

I predict a mighty invasion by the Sload, steamrolling over all of Tamriel. I for one welcome our new slug overlords.

Too much is placed on mythic cycles. Human nature plays just as large a part as whatever the hell the term is that describes the rebel/king dichotomy. If anything the Empire was just released from the cycle when the Chim-el Adabal was destroyed.
