72C had been ordered to get to the Pioneer Squad as quick as possible, so Buttons decided that the quickest way would be the path the squad took earlier. It seemed to work, the tracks of the APC were easy to follow, and there were few enemies, just a bunch of corpses. Buttons looked around him, at the leftovers of his builder's past civilization. He saw some animals scavenging the wastes, but since he was a robot, the left him alone. For the most part.

In the middle of his path stood a lone animal that seemed to care that 72C was out in the wasteland. A bloatfly, attracted by the colors and sheen of his armor, flew towards Buttons. Buttons stopped in his tracks, startled by the insect, and scanned it. It definitely wasn't human, and wasn't comparable to a radscorpion or a deathclaw, so he was not sure what the strange creature was.

The bloatfly, noticing the change in movement, started shooting at Buttons. 72C, in his first combat experience with the new AI, panicked, and started firing wildly with his minigun. Buttons locked onto the bloatfly with the missile launcher, and fired a shot at the insect. It missed, flying off into the distance. And the bloatfly continued to attack him.

72C, wildly firing the minigun, managed to finally hit the bloatfly with a few 5mm rounds. The bloatfly popped, and flew backwards. Buttons, after recording the battle data, continued off to find the squad.

James too tipped over a table. The suppresive fire was even more intense than Harley's. James blindfired his rifle around the table, and was rewarded with a sound similar to a frying pan squashing an orange. But the sound was overriden by the grinding of a Sentry Bot's tracks, behind us. James swung round, expecting to find a faceful of laser, but instead was greated by a Brotherhood Robot. Emblazoned on its briastplate, in huge, red letters, was the name 'Buttons'. 'Buttons?' James shouted.
'Yes sir?, replied a tinny, yet somewhat eccentric voice.
'What are your directives?'
' Apparently, "to save your asses", sir.'
'Well, get going!'
'Of course.' he groaned, letting rip with his huge Minigun.
Moments later, the smoke cleared out of the tight room.
'Well done soldier!' James commended. 'Lets go check out this lab. Buttons, escort Rice to the roof please.'
'Sir, I am equippd with a radio myself.'
'Very well. Report our position, then patrol the main section.'

The lab was pretty impressive. There was 2 sections, separated by a long counter, with blinds. The stairs led up to a concealed exit in the shape of a broken down vending machine. The lab itself was huge, about 90m square, with a large pedestal in the center, presumably for disection or creation of creatures. The lab had 4 generators, located under the grated floors at each point of the compass. James was happy about this catch. As he turned to leave, and to bring Big Barry closer, he shouted to Edward.
'Hey, Ed, nice stumble! You get the credit for this.'

While everyone was checking out the lab, John was busy collecting Microfusion Cells for his Plasma Rifle. Afterwards he said, "Do you think this lab will make a good outpost?"

Buttons examined the area that they were currently in. It seemed larger than the lab of the Citadel, and dotted around the room was all sorts of equipment, although some of it seemed nonfunctional. Buttons activated the radio, saying:
"72C has reached Pioneer Squad Omega. Currently, we seem to be located it some sort of laboratory, possibly R&D for who had operated the facility. Other than a few feral ghouls, the facility seems abandoned."
A scribe at the Citadel replied "A large lab in an abandoned facility? Sounds like a good place to find somnething interesting. What can you tell is there?"
"Well, there are a few generators, and there is raised platform in the center."
"Alright, well if Omega finds anything interesting, report in."
"Command Confirmed."

Buttons cut the signal, and followed the order James had given him. He drove around the labspace, surveying the wreckage on the floor, and the equipment on the walls. The large counter in the center was covered in various objects, but none of them noteworthy. It merely looked as if the ghouls had been collecting shiny things from the scavengers they'd caught. He scanned around the room, some of the equipment looked operational, and the generators were in pretty good shape.
