Linora's Leveling Mod and Galsiah's Character Development: L

Hi all, I'm new here and "quite new" in Morrowing too.

I have just began to play Morrowind. I have installed some graphic mods and now I have the "problem" deciding what kind of "leveling" mod I have to install.

I set the difficulty level to the "maximum" (100?!?) cause I don't want it to became too easily a god-mode game. But I noticed (here and there in internet) that that doesn't avoid the quickly development in a god-mode game.

So, Searching, I found these two mods, Linora's and Galsiah's ones. Stated that my goal is to avoid the god-mode (or at least make it arrive as later as I can), which one of these (and why) you suggest to me? Can I use them togheter? or not?

I use GCD, and was under the impression that it doesn't affect difficulty atall? I could be majorly wrong though....

If you want higher difficulty, something that adds more monsters might be up your street, like creatures x...

There are difficulty adjusters for GCD if you don't use the latest and greatest patched-up version.

If you're speaking of Gluby's 1.08 patched, he left the original commented scripts so you can still change the difficulty easily.

I'm not talking about higher chance to meet strong creatures at the beginning of the game. I "need" a mod that let me feel a difficulty even if I am level 35/40 (it's only an example). As it is now the game, at level 25, even if I encounter one of those "creatures" I will beat them down without difficulty and even more travellig the 80% (at least) of the world would be a simply "jogging".

1) Galsiah's mod will never let me choice the improving skill at the level-up. Is it true?

2) All of you seem to don't take count of Linora's mod. Don't you think it's useful?

3) What do you mean for "change the difficulty" reating to Galsiah's Mod?

4) Will, at the end, Galsiah's Mod let me feel the "challenge" in the world of Morrowind even at higher level?

1. GCD doesn't have levelups, attributes increase on-the-fly as you gain skills. The amount of the attribute increase depends on your skill selection at character creation. GCD keeps track of level for leveled list purposes but it's very different from vanilla.

2. Linora's mod just gives you a fixed attribute increase; very basic.

3. In GCD skills, attributes, health, and magicka are all interlinked by editable scripts so you can modify just about anything if you want to spend the time (and get a feel for how it works) There is also an add-on esp called "fairly hard" that Galsiah provided to do more or less what you seem to be looking for. (this is part of the original 1.07 but it works with the patched version too)

4. GCD can be very challenging because most builds will have lower health than in vanilla and because of the way stats are calculated, you won't be able to boost attributes easily by training up misc skills as in vanilla (misc skills have a much lower influence because leveling rates are based on starting skill values)

Ok, I think you convinced me. I Will download and use Galsiah's C.D. with the "fairly hard" with difficulty set at 100. Or not?

I think you'll like it. 100 difficulty might be overdoing it with GCD since it was designed to be balanced at default mid setting. Try it for a while at normal and then move it up if it seems too easy...just my two cents. :)

GCD can be "neutral" or a "difficulty enhancer", depending on your choices of character class. Playing a nearly-pure thief or mage, the character will be far better at their specialty, but with a lot less hitpoints, and not that good outside their field. As a mixed-class fighter/anything, it's definitely a "difficulty enhancer", because you won't get the hitpoints needed for a "tank" character, but probably won't have the compensating skills to avoid getting hit.

I find that a few good self-imposed rules on play can work better than boosting the difficulty slider. If you don't sell hom-made potions or "stack" potions and enchantments, limit paid training (I use no major training, max of 1 minor skill per level, and no more than 1 level in any misc. skill per char level), avoid heading to pick up any "special" items that you know are there but your character hasn't heard a rumor about first, and don't use a couple of "in-game exploit" merchants to amass huge quantities of gold, it's a lot harder to become "uber" quickly. In short, you've got to "earn" it the hard way.

I'm a Nordic Crusader and naturally I don't know the game exploit cause it's my first time in game.
