When & where...

Can someone tell me when and where Bethesda announced that they were officially done supporting this game (and Fallout 3 if you know)?

Check the various gaming rags starting from about the time FO3 came out. Todd made the statement several times that I am aware of, in a selection of magazine articles.

Well I guess I'll just use the date of the last official patch. I don't have those gaming rags nor do I feel like scouring the internet for a Todd Howard interview. Again, you'd think this information is something that would be readily available on the official support forums, kind of like those EULAs, but I guess Bethesda does things differently. Maybe that's why I couldn't find their own online store's return policy either.

I think its just "old news", and not really something beth wants to advertise in any event..... they have moved on from oblivion, and soon, we will have skyrim.

Yes, Bethesda seems to have a penchant for brushing "old news", that isn't flattering to their reputation, under the rug.

Who knows about Skyrim...maybe since the Oblivion lawsuit and the hopefully soon to be filed FO:NV lawsuit, their lawyers will tell them it might actually be a good idea to do a complete and thorough QA on the game this time around, instead of making their paying customers do it for free. In which case it wouldn't be released on 11.11.11. But I doubt it. They seem to act like they think they are above the law and I doubt that's going to change anytime soon.

Well there are two involving Oblivion right now, one a single plaintiff and the other a class action. Another class action involving FO:NV will probably follow soon. Oh, and can you believe Bethesda threatened to sue the maker of Minecraft because he was/is going to name his next game Scrolls? :lmao:

Maybe you should provide a link. You know how the old saying goes, link or it didn't happen.

Hmm...not sure about the threat by Bethesda to sue Mojang over the name Scrolls happening. Bethesda certainly isn't going to make that public so the only side I've heard is from "Notch". But I am sure about the class action lawsuit regarding Oblivion, as those public records are available to anyone willing to go to the trouble of finding/getting them. A logical Google search is all that's needed to find the complaint and if someone can't figure that out, they certainly aren't going to understand any of the bigger words in the complaint either.

So, basically you want us to scour the internet to find something to support your claims. Brilliant.

I don't want or need you to do anything, including believing any of my 'claims'. I merely mentioned the lawsuits, which in the case of the two existing lawsuits about Oblivion, are matters of public record.

The 'old saying' you mentioned isn't generally used to refer to matters of public record, that anyone capable of a REAL SIMPLE Google search can locate. I guarantee you they are a lot easier to locate than any interview with Todd Howard wherein he states they officially ended support for Oblivion. No scouring necessary. Just LOGIC, like I said earlier. I was only half-kidding about the complaints or any other documents being of little use to anyone who couldn't perform a simple Google search.

What direction do you plan to take this thread in if/when you manage to find the information verifying my 'claim'? Please tell me you aren't going to turn into a law expert all of a sudden or another liar. I've dealt with more than enough of those already around here.

Why would I lie about any of this anyways? BTW, I do have to commend you on your roundabout way of calling me a liar. I've learned the direct, upfront approach to simply calling a liar a liar around here, even when you have all the proof in the world that they are indeed lying right there on the screen in front of you (which of course, you don't), can get you into trouble. Or maybe that's just when the liar is one of the Bethesda faithful. I was actually thinking about testing that little theory out by making a post with a bold-faced lie that wasn't of benefit to Bethesda and seeing the reactions from members and then mods, but I assure you, this 'claim' wasn't that lie.

This has dissolved into discussing lawsuits that the company is (or may as been claimed) involved in. Discussion of it is not allowed on these forums.
