As an assassin you generally want two permanent weapons such as a dagger and a bow. A bound bow is good however if you're still low level and haven't found a Daedric bow, but you shouldnt rely on this spell as an assassin. Generally what you want to work on is your sneak skills, your blade and archery, some illusion magic perhaps and the rest is up to you. A good bow to go for is is called Hatreds Soul or any Daedric bow when you reach level 19.

If your assassin is concerned about how much they can carry, then yes, bound weapons can be useful sense they are 0 weight. Mind you I don't think the bound bow does as much damage as a real daedric bow.

Yes, a Bound Bow does 15 damage, while a Daedric Bow does 22 damage.

It is good as a backup bow, rather than a primary weapon.

I don't quite understand that. Why use a bound weapon if you're carrying around a better physical version of it?

One of my favorite characters was a conjurer who carried no physical weapons at all. She used a bound bow and bound sword, and never had any good reason to carry the "real" versions of them. The bound bow delivers damage similar to an Elven or Glass bow, but is able to harm enemies which resist normal weapons. Its damage is not far below that of an Ebony bow. That makes it second only to a Daedric bow in terms of overall usefulness, but the Daedric bow weighs 22, while the Bound bow weighs 0. Plus it never needs repair.

you can't enchant it, other than that i believe its the same as elvish, you can just use it much earlier, also it can hurt ghosts. I don't see any reason why using it wouldn't be viable.

I found this good for some RP purposes:

Get bound bow spell.
You need a high conjuration, so this set up is usually much later on for some characters. Create a custom bound spell for a longer duration. I tend to use/create spells that are on the outer edge of expert, so that when I am a master, the magicka cost is not as high.

For low-level characters, it works great the other way around. You can equip an ordinary iron or steel bow, and then cast Bound Bow. You get greatly improved damage, and when the Bound Bow times out, you've still got the physical bow as a backup.
