I have a question about leveled lists?

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 10:05 pm

So I have *a lot* of mods for morrowind, and i'm getting kinda tired of having to scroll through such a large list to add/remove/edit plugins, so I decided that i'm going to consolidate a lot of them. My only question is, how will leveled lists act if I merge two plugins that use the same list? For example, one plugin makes changes to in_cave_all_lev+0, and another makes different changes to said list. If I used the CS's 'combine loaded plugins' function, will the two lists be combined, or will one overwrite the other? And if they aren't combined correctly, is there another way to do this? Maybe a third-party program, or something inherent in the CS to deal with this? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

http://gmml.pbworks.com/w/page/5990237/MergeMods all though it doesn't mention anything about leveled lists, but the advice is solid.

My advice would be to not merge mods that essentially are modifying the same information. Instead use http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=utilities.detail&id=23, and only merge mods that you're 100% confident will not output some unusable bastardized abomination fit only for the recycle bin.

Is it more thorough/less buggy than TESTool's Merge Lists function?

Never used TEStool, Kir, so I can't rightly say. I used MLLM years ago and don't recall having any significant problems, but mileage may vary as every one has differing mod loads. I guess it would be important to note at this point for the OP; proceed with caution.

I think one will overwite the other.

run http://code.google.com/p/mlox/downloads/detail?name=tes3cmd-0.37p-2011.05.23.7z&can=2&q= multipatch before merging, and load (or merge with CS) generated multipatch.esp as last mod
[EDIT]advices about "know what you are trying to merge" when objects/dialogs are involved still valid. Merging leveled lists is always suggested, I think current best tool for leveled lists is tes3cmd.exe, next one is Mash.

Interesting. I'm doing one for mod for creatures and another for items. I've had a look at this and people say that in the CS one will overwrite another in relation to level lists. Best way to find out is use a duplicate esp and test it out. If it does, you may need to find another program. I'm sure there will be one.

On a quick think, you may be able to use the Mash level list file, just loading it with the required mods, then take that file and blend it in with the bulk of the mod. Maybe you'd need to clean the lists from the bulk esp (enchanted editor), but when merged it would be one esp (mashed) with the complete lists.

Might help. Cheers!
