That's kinda been the point of the main character of EVERY GAME, nothing you do really matters, because if you didn't do it, fate would find another crony.

Naah i don't think the will force us in a character role. That would disappoint me.

That will never happen in a TES game, do not read too much into the teaser trailer the icon shown in the trailer is just a wall carving of what someone decided was a way to depict their version of a vision told by the wise men, not an exact viewpoint at all, so you can replace that character with a kajiit or argonian or orc if you want and still be true to the vision as told.
