[REQHELP] Vvardenfell 2x

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 5:39 am

Hello everyone, the thing is I've been working for some time in an Vvardenfell expansion, much in the line of the awesome Morrowind Rebirth. Now I wanted to take things to a whole new level and build my expansion even further in a vvardenfell island that has double size of the original.
I tried to do it by myself using tesannwyn after I found this website: http://projectmanager.f2s.com/morrowind/2x2/index.html
In the readme that comes enclosed in the Tesannwyn rar there's a tutorial to rescale the terrain from bloodmoon, giving it a 2x size. I followed the instructions and applied them to morrowind.esm(changing the values where necessary, that is same command lines with the correct numbers like map height)but the esp that I get in the end shows no enlarged vvardenfell, nothing looks different at all, and I dont know how am i supposed to achieve the results showed in the pictures in the mentioned site.

I was wondering if anyone has tried this, and maybe could help me pointing what I am doing wrong.

Thanks to everyone in advance,

Not to sound unhelpful but it doesnt really sound like it would work all that well anyway. Doubling the size of everything means that all of the towns, trees and rocks will be swallowed up by the higher elevation.

Yea I don't think you should double the size.

I don't think it is even possible as height will need to double too. Red Mountain being already so hif\gh that you can't. And I second the opion of the others, Don't.

From what I've seen, it's scaling x and y, not z.

But, Red Mountain can be made higher, 1.6 times higher within game engine limits. Got a mod in progress at the moment that scales up the highlands of Vvardenfell to take advantage of this limit.

Make sure in TESAnnwyn that the import command is pointing to your new heightmap, and not the original.

Looks great, I'd love to see what you come up with, engine could be a problem though, as others have said, I suggest you play around with it and see what you can do.

Thanks everyone, I guess I need to rethink how to make this possible and play around with Tesannwyn. And PirateLord,I'll check that, oh and I knew about your project and I am eagerly waiting to see what can you come up with.

Thanks again!

It can certainly be done. The problem is not that the buildings will be engulfed by higher hills and mountains (as Piratelord indicated) but that if you stretch the landscape much of the layout will no longer make sense. Balmora would be located in a wide valley, for instance, with lots of space between the buildings. You'd very likely find yourself redesigning all of the townscapes as well as the countryside.

Yes, I had already considered, maybe 2x is too much, but what I want is much more space to build the cites as big as I can with a decent fps rate, if I get this working when I get back home I think I will post every step and problem I had to go through just in case somebody finds it useful, the community never can have too many resources. If not, well, another learning experience.
Thanks for your time guys
