Toggle Sneak

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 5:37 am

Is there a mod that will allow me to toggle sneak on or off (so i don't have to hold down sneak key the whole time i want to sneak) - that does not require Bloodmoon and Tribunal? I haven't got those yet, just the main game. Any mods I've found need those to be installed too.
Its really annoying holding down that damn sneak button!

It's a function of the Morrowind Code Patch.

"Make sure your Morrowind is patched with the last Bloodmoon patch (v.1.6.0.1820)" as I say, sadly I don't have that yet

You should really look into getting the expansions. They not only add new content, but as I understand it, also allow modders to do extra things they could not do in vanilla. Hence why a lot require bloodmoon patched up.

I think you could probably set up MGE to toggle sneak for you with the macro editor, though I am not sure if you can with the current MGEXE. Anyway, just get the GotY Edition - it is as low as 16.99 (including shipping) or 19.99 on Steam (though that has a few minor hurdles apparently).

You can use Yacoby's http://mw.yacoby.net/Mods/ToggleSneak.htm mod so you don't have to wait for your payday. :whistling:

That is only because of the start script. I think.

If you removed that (Start Script) and manually started the script it would work as long as you could get MGE and the integrated MWSE to work with just Morrowind. I don't know if the integrated version of MWSE would work without a fully patched version of Bloodmoon .

I can confirm this is possiblt with the standard MGE and macro-editing. I can also confirm it is not possible with MGE XE, which was released after the MCP fixed the issue. I'll also throw in my two cents, have patience and get the GOTY. You'll enjoy the game much more. Bethesda fixed many problems including the Journal interface with the expansions.

Thanks again guys. I have never really changed files much, sadly. Installing mods is pretty much my limit. But, yes I will soon get GOTY ed. and sort out my sneakin'
Just out of interest, would buying the expansions seperarely and installing = same as GOTY (like all the fixes and stuff?)?

Buying the expansions seperately will probably cost you more than buying them as GOTY ,even if you have the Morrowind CD already. Current saves will work fine and you can find them in your Bethesda softworks/Morrowind /saves folder. Not in data files. It will be useful to know where yoursave games are because they can often be fixed and tweaked with various utilities should you pick up any bugs along the way.

Your save games will work fine, when you first load them, a message will appear down the bottom where it's updating/converting the old journal system to the new. Bit slow, but it only does it the once, just resave your game once it's loaded.

When you get the GOTY version, just grab the Tribunal and Bloodmoon CD's from the package and install those two only in that order. Your saves will remain where you left them.
