Meshes Meshes Meshes

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 9:54 pm

Hey,

Another mesh issue out of nowhere.

Long story short this is the warning:

Model Load Error: Meshes\_SP\BDP\R\Guard_cur_GND.NIF cannot load file in Meshes\_SP\BDP\R\Guard_cur_GND.NIF.

and

Model Load Error: Meshes\_SP\YDL\glass_helmet.nif cannot load file in Meshes\_SP\YDL\glass_helmet.nif.

Now im 99% certain these are HELLUVA armors. Unfortunately that path isnt there in the zip. I have the Light, Medium and Heavy HELLUVA armors as well as Spiffymans balanced esps. Clearly there is something that I have not installed I just dont know what!

I reinstalled all my HELLUVA and HELLUVA balanced files but those files in the warnings.txt are nowhere to be found. One of my esps is looking for it though. What one?

no need to be 99% sure, those are definitely HELLUVA stuff. They would all be from the Helluva Recolored set. The glass are ysmidril (sp?) armors which are recolored glass and the guard ones are the ground meshes for the either Green,Gold, or Blue guard cuirass. I'd suggest redownloading that set to see if it helps. I'm also downloading it to see if I can spot the offending pieces.

EDIT: found both those meshes in the Recolored archive. So redownloading/installing that would solve you problem.

Thanks Spiffyman. You saved me again.

That's not HELLUVA.... But I'd guess WG is West Gash. Do you have any mods related to that region?

Not anything that would effect an interior. The actual nif is: \_WGRR\bm_colony_sop01_ed.nif

its only 1 interior from the ald redaynia mod. That mod doesnt have the offending nif so reinstalling it was unhelpful.

The _wgrr folder was for windows glow raven rock. Apparently my game wont read the bsa. I used the bsareg utility but nothing changed in my ini file. Unpacking the bsa worked. Wish I could figure out why bsareg dosesnt work. Is there an alternative?

You could unpack it someplace and use BSA Browser to repack it into a new bsa. If that doesn't work, you'll have to stick with the loose files since there is no alternatives to packaging aside from bsas.

You could copy and paste the name of the BSA into the .ini file under Archives where the other BSA's are. Just back up your .ini and follow the format of the Tribunal and Bloodmoon.BSAs that are already listed there.

Thats what I did but the issue persists. Its odd isnt it?

I dont mind the loose files though. At least there is a solution.

Thanks for the help.

Might be that the bsa wasn't packed in a way that Morrowind can read it. I haven't a clue why this happens, but there seems to be some evidence to support the .bsa files are the problem. Just as morrowind cannot read a fallout3 .esm, it can't read .bsa's that are packaged in an unfamiliar way.

Whats odd is that one of them is windows glow and thats a pretty popular mod. I cant imagine no one else has had the same issue.

Which version of Windows are you using? Check your Morrowind folder for compatiblity files (in Windows 7, there should be a button labelled "Compatibility Files" in the centre under the address bar). Your new .ini is probably tucked away in there and you are still using the old one. Delete the old one (or rename it with a .bak suffix|) and copy and paste. Maybe run BSAReg as an administrator next time, or install Morrowind outside of Program Files, or try opening the properties for the Morrowind folder see if "Read Only" is checked.

I didn't even know Windows Glow was available in BSA format. I don't think that is the standard installation.

All thats working fine. Bsareg works fine as well. It even tells me the bsas are all properly redirected. I know the proper inin is being loaded because all my light tweaks are working in game. The list of mods I have are showing in it too.

Its not too much of an issue to me though as I can just unpack them and drop them into the folder.

I must have repackaged it ages ago. MGSO uses these, but there's no included BSA there, either. Hm. Live and learn.
