I got royally destroyed by a glitch...

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 12:29 am

With over 155 hours of game time, half the quests completed I finally got the oghma infinium, to get me to my max level (51). I had all my major skils maxed except for heavy armor which was 90...So basically this was so I didnt over level with max attributes...You know, annoy message everytime you slept.

All my other skills are at 100, on level 50 I went on a level up spree, so everything governed by personality went to 100 and I just assumed even though it would be a while untill I get to level up that last time the game would remember all the mercantile and speechcraft increases and give me my +3 so Id have all my attributes at 100...

Well...I didnt, I leveled up with the oghma infinium and nothing....Just a 1 point increase getting me to 98 personality. I was pissed, but luckily I remembered Shadow Over Hackdirt gives you a +5 mercantile bonus at the end.

This corresponded to an exact +3 to personality that I neede. So I kept the oghma, did the quest, got the +5 (mercantile now 105). Read the oghma and still...Just a +1 increase...What Gives?!

I realize I can go to jail a thousand times and level up the 2 more times I need to. But honestly, that will take forever and a level 53 character just doesnt seem right...

Is there anything I can do to force the game to give me a +2 or +3 increase in personality if I leveled up again or if I went back to a previous save?

It's things like this that keep me from loving Bethesdas games, so fun, but so glitchy...Please help.

Might want to report this too a Mod and get it moved to the Spoilers section instead...

As far as I know, and am backed up by the Uesp
Spoiler
Using this book, all attributes except Endurance, Personality and Luck (but only two of them per character, depending on which Path you choose) can be raised above 100 to at most 110 with a corresponding increase in all derived values, such as Magicka, running speed or carrying capacity.

I hope I've understood what you meant and answered you alright.

Nah, lol, The problem is the game didnt register all the leveling up I did in personality governed skills. So when I used the Oghma Infinium I was only given a +1 to personality when I leveled up rather than a +3 (technically a +5).

Okay. I'm still confused then.

Which did you do first, Shadow Over Hackdirt or use the Ohgma?

The only thing I can think that would make sense is that the +5 over 100 given by the quest to your mercantile skill wont count towards attribute increases after levelling up. Since the cap is set at 100 and you're only technically boosting to get it.

Yeah, I think that if you can reduce mercantile to 100 it might work?
But didn't you say that your mercantile level was 100 anyway?

If your mercantile was 100 before you achieved level 50 (the last level up) then I don't think you'll get more than +1...
