Just a thought, but--aside from the various modder-made bugfixes, I would suggest avoiding mods for a while. Note down what you wish were in either game as you go along, and then ask. For example, if you enjoy companions in Skyrim and don't like their absence, we can give you some extremely good ones in Oblivion and Morrowind that have their own lengthy quest series, and in at least one or two cases, a lot of interesting, flavorful comments.

While I agree with fable to an extent, anyone going directly from Skyrim to Morrowind will, 99 times out of a hundred, be absolutely disgusted with the vanilla graphics. Graphics improving mods are not generally classified as bugfixes, which is why I felt fable's suggestion was rather misleading.

If you are looking for an all-in-one graphics enhancement, do try http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1319942-relz-morrowind-overhaul-sounds-graphics-20/page__st__210. You will find other excellent mods on http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1305729-mod-recommendations-for-new-players/.

I do agree with fable about mods which add new locations and quests. You will get a better idea of what Morrowind the game is without them, as well as gaining a better appreciation of the accomplishments of the modders when you see what it was like before mods.

I would say just start with better bodies, and use MGE XE to stop being in a fog all the time, then as Elaura mentions, you'll see what you want improving, and be able to find those mods.

Thank you so far...

I think i stay away from mods as you recommended until i played vanilla.

I′ll try the graphic and sound overhaul though but are there any other mods yous say "even for the first time...he should use that?"

I would use the BTB Edit of the MPP: http://btb2.free.fr/morrowind.html

I'd suggest Morrowind Graphics Overhaul 2.0 (graphics + patches) (note: if you are running windows 7 and an intelchip to get an updated version of exeopt before running it). You can skip the exeopt if you have an amd chip. Other than that, BTB's balancing mods are a good way to help remove exploits. Probably also stat-based hit points (not a bug-fix per se, but probably one that should be).

The rest is going to be dependant on what you are expecting, ie what did you like and want to see expanded upon/corrected and what didn't you like.

Fable's suggestion is nothing wrong with. I find it misleading to name graphic improvements as bugfixes, as they aren't. I would first play Morrowind straight out of the box, vanilla that is. Also without any graphic mods. Otherwise you never know how Morrowind looks like originally. Let anyone decide itself if the graphics are ugly or not. It's a matter of personal taste. I find them myself not bad. Next to that graphics aren't that important. Gameplay it is all about.

Don't use any graphic extenders yet. Play the games first vanilla, just as they are intended. I only suggest to use the unofficial patches for the games.
For Morrowind you want to grab Morrowind Code Patch and Morrowind Patch Project. For Oblivion it's Unofficial Oblivion patch, Unofficla oblivion patch supplemental, Unoffcial official mods patch and unofficial shivering isles patch.
Those unofficial fixes fix things that were left behind after the official patches, such as the falling orc in Skingrad and the magister bug in House Telvanni.

I don′t agree with playing games vanilla first. The first playthrough is the best one, why would you wanna play it with ugly graphics and other fixable flaws?!
They didn′t "intend" for the game to be ugly as [censored] by todays standards, they just couldn′t do it better at the time.
And why play without, say LGNPC? So you can "experience" the greatness that is every town with copy paste copy paste NPCs?

Vanilla Morrowind is deeply flawed, especially by todays standards. There′s no reason not to fix that right away while the whole experience is "fresh". The game just isn′t as much fun if you already know what′s happening...

MY recommendation for first time:

MGSO
LGNPC

Add more stuff as you go along

Once again; ugly is a personal thing. What one finds ugly, the other finds that not. Also, if you use all kinds of mods straight away you never find out how the game look liked without it.
So that's why the suggestion is to first play the game without any mods, except the bugfixing ones. Because there are some nasty bugs in it.
