Is Tsun the first aedroth we meet face to face while not in

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 6:00 am

Going on the premise that Tsun = Zenithar in the ancient Nordic pantheon...

Before Tsun, the only time we actually meet any of the big-name aedra is when they're in disguise and (barring meta) don't know it was him until afterwards and/or you do some lore digging.

So is Tsun the first aedroth who is openly so upon the Player meeting him?

Unless you count Aka from the end of Oblivion as a meeting.

As I understood it, it was Martin channeling the power of Akatosh, not Akatosh himself. Basically "Here have some of my power now OMFG QUICK BANISH DAGON!!!!"

I would count Akatosh as the first, unless you mean literally face to face conversation close. We don't really see the Daedra either, only their Avatars. The flaming Dragon was Akatosh's Avatar just as the forms of Azura and Hircine that we came face to face with are not their true forms or presence but their Avatars in the plane of Mundus. If that makes any sense.

Sorta. He is an aspect of an Aedroth, and is in his full form in Sovngarde. So really, it all depends on how much you think each aspect of a god is its other aspects.

You were already standing there.

That is, assuming my Dragonborn is Talos 2.1, Talos is Ysmir 2.0, Ysmir is Shor 1.2 deal is right. Otherwise, it was likely because he was needed elsewhere. Sovngarde is probably much bigger than it looked, both by limits of game design and the limits of the Dragonborn's living mind. A living mind meeting a god in his true form head on is probably a dead man.

ysgromer
You just put the word "mer" into Ysgramor's name. Truly this must be one of the greatest of all blasphemies. Hellmouth, back me up on this.

He was there, he was just split up amongst his constituent parts. You can speak with said parts, if you like.

I really wish Shor was there as well...

Why cant Bethesda just step up to the plate and show us Deities in their full glory...why?

Who knows maybe hollering in large font like that will get their attention

Small chance, but maybe...

Shor was there. He was up in that glowy bit: his seat is too bright for mortal eyes (i.e., the actual residents of Sovngarde can see him whereas you cannot).

Because they don't exist. It's like asking to see the turkey you served at dinner last night: it's not there anymore, it's divided up amongst several different people, mixed with other stuff, and no longer recognizable.

Or, more appropriately, it's like if 2 people were each told half a story, and they each told their two children half of what they know, and so on and so forth down the generations, until everyone knows exactly one word of the story. You ask to hear the story, well it isn't there to hear, but if you gather up enough of the people who carry a word of the story you can maybe get a feeling for what it was about. Occasionally, you might meet a guy who guesses enough of what the story is to tell it: it's not necessarily what the story was originally, but if it's close enough so that people don't know the difference this new story can kind-of sort-of take the place of the old one.

I'm not so sure that he was present in the Hall at that time. I mean, the heroes in the Hall say "Shor's high seat stands empty. His mien is too bright for mortal eyes.", basically meaning that he was not present. I actually have a theory - if the PC is a Shezzarine, wouldn't that make it so Shor himself wouldn't be present? Because his essence is basically in the current Shezzarine? And you'd think that if Shor's throne was really Shor's true throne, Bethesda wouldn't allow just some ordinary person with dragon blood in them sit upon his throne - that's probably why the PC can sit on it, because he is a Shezzarine. But if that's not the case, then he must be somewhere else. That "glowy bit" is just light rays coming from the uber epic sky in Sovngarde. :P

Elaboarate please. We are discussing the Aedra we have met not Daedra. If it was my comments about true forms you were referring to I was referring to the Princes not all daedra we have encountered.
