Why are necromancers evil?

To be honest, I always found Necromancy to be the coolest magic. I always wanted to have a necromancy skill in game. The idea of raising an undead army is just so cool.
Skyrim seems to have made it the closest to actual necromancy, so far.

And you know, tansyuduri, legal necromancers don't use innocents or dug up bodies. The Septim Empire in Cyrodiil donated bodies to sponsored necromancers, usually bandits. Necromancers have asked Gortwag to see if he'd be so kind as to donate some orsimer bodies to study. Plus, for my necro, it's bandits that tend to make up my minions, and as far as every governing body is concerned, save for the altmer and dunmer, that's perfectly legal as they're lawbreakers and would have just been killed anyway.

I honestly don't see anything wrong with necromancy itself. The necromancy that uses souls is basically just illusion magic for dead people.

This entire idea is similar to a D&D campaign I am running.
I have always been pissed about the fact that people seem to equate necromancy with evil.

The natural progression of life is to death. Necromancy corrupts the natural order.

And whoever would want a scary army?

Which brings up the ethics of mind control. Particularly long-term control.

And as I recall, at the end 'Ancestors and the Dunmer', it says that attitudes have changed since the book was first written and now they consider necromancy on everyone to be wrong. Maybe some Telvanni necromancer compared the souls of different races with dunmer ones. Then again, some members of the temple questioned whether men have souls; well they evidently do as do mudcrabs, but it might be some sort of lesser soul so far as they were concerned.

The natural progression of life is to death. Necromancy corrupts the natural order.

Oh, hang your 'natural order', we've got technology/sorcery! Topiaries for instance. I'm sure the wood elves would kick up fuss about both though.
