Do Bosmer have a god that they specifically pray to or seek redemption/forgiveness, I know Y'ffre is a main god to them but I dont know if thats who they do what I asked with him.

Redemption/Forgiveness are a peculiarly Christian, or more Abrahamic concepts, absent from almost all real-world and mythological religions. The Alessians may have had a similar concept, but I don't the Bosmer ever worry too much about forgiveness.

Do you think stendarrans practise this? Maybe even with layman to priest confessions? Not that I'd expect many wood elves to be stendarrans.

I think the mercy for a bunch of Stendarrians is beating daedric worshipers, those cursed and so on is to beat them over the head with a big mace. At least in Skyrim with the vigilant.

Well, that's just one side of 'mercy' practised by the vigilant to those outside the temple whom they disagree with. And maybe given the resources, some of them would try to get some St. Olms style repentance from those who can be redeemed. Which is probably quite a lot of people as far as worshippers of the god of mercy are concerned.

If I wanted forgiveness, I would walk a very long way around the followers of Stendarr. Mara is probably your best bet, perhaps, at least they have heard of concepts such as charity and the like.
Though no one wants to hear the right god for their non-human is in the pantheon, name unchanged; the Yokudans would at least have an interesting name, Morwha with four arms anyone? (and likely at least one god for deserved forgiveness, and one for you don't deserve it but it's a good day to be generous).

Back in Daggerfall, the http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:Temple_of_Stendarr is the temple of mercy and compassion that pretty much help anyone in need of help and pain. They also hold higher placement of healing and curing things.

Their army sect is http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:Crusaders, which fit exactly like the vigilant of Skyrim; strong and still able to heal people.

Self flagellation.

redemption/forgiveness is probably more of a social/personal issue than a religious one in tes; you don't exactly need forgiveness from gods unless you offended them personally; or that pilgrimage thing in oblivion.

Funny that the the Bos maiorum and soteriology should be interwined.

See 'cause in TES, reconciliation with God is achieved in a manner best described as "petit déjeuner".

Weren't they considered a shower of bleeding-heart softies and all? In a way even the Benevolence of Mara wasn't. That's a far cry from the mace-bashing stereotype.

What's a 'Bos maiorum'? And don't tell to search for it in google, because I did and all I found was http://ilbestiarium.blogspot.com/2011/04/ancestral-bos-maiorum.html.

Nothing to shake and change the faith than a near world ending daedra invasion.

That the temple sect, not the army sect, hence why I mention the Crusaders. The army sect give off that paladin/knights templar vibe.

I don't think it's even possible to wrong / sin against the Bosmeri gods. They're not that sort of diety. Instead, Bosmeri morality seems to be far more temporal, and based on things like the Green Pact. I imagine there's probably some sort of redemption code written into their laws, maybe something like (paraphrasing flavor text from a Magic card) "One bone broken for every twig snapped."

Well the reason this Bosmeri left Valenwood was to smoke grass so as not to break the laws of the Green Pact.

Y'ffre is our main god and will remain as such. Hail Sithis. :drag:
