Yes, that was a joke. I realize that making faces is not as easy as say writing a sentence for dialog.

Considering Mel hasn't tried orcs yet, blue is not usually considered within the "flesh tone" spectrum, and unless you are an albino, red eyes are not par for the course either, I would say Dunmer are about as far from normal as one can get outside of beast races and The Pig Children. Artistically, blue is a much harder shade to match face to body and red is a more difficult color than say, the black of Woodelves' eyes.

I realize Mel's usage of the term "normal" tickled you, Kir, but it's not really that inappropriate a term here.

Seriously, those faces look great. I thought I read somewhere in here that you'd trashed the first two, but I do hope you will reconsider; the middle one, in particular, looks quite perfect for a more middle-aged character, and I can think of a couple of characters in-game (and at least one of my own PCs) that could use that face nicely. She looks like a Redoran noblewoman to me.

See, she looks more like the kind of Ashlander wise woman that I keep running into in the middle of nowhere, who wants to steal my "essence". And my gold. I think it is pretty realistic, although perhaps she needs just a tiny bit more wrinkles around the cheekbones, near the nose? I can't quite put my finger on why, and it could just be me, but her nose seems a little younger than the rest of her face. Perhaps she went to the Telvanni for nose job magic.
I have to agree with you on the mesh. The one that is used in Vvardenfell Visages (I believe; the one from the base pictures you were showing) is pretty hideous, IMHO. Not trying to be offensive, of course, but it IS older, and needs updating. Again, as a purely personal opinion, I think what you are doing here, with the dramatic, exotic eyes, is going a long way to making them look distinctly non-human.
Edit: And incidentally, that face looks lovely too.
These are AWESOME! I do believe these are my very favorite of all the heads you've made so far. The almost over-the-top, dramatic eye color is perfect, please, please leave them in!

It does look like there might be a very odd, jagged edge at the corner of each eye, kind of fanning out in a triangle. I would have thought that was just where the makeup around each eye ended, except the color doesn't seem to quite match the skin tone of the rest of the face. Is that just the screenshot?

Elaura, I wasn't sure quite how to respond to what Kir said. Makes sense now though, I see his point, but it's like you said, they just look weird and inhuman. Or, ideally they would. TBH my Dunmer custom skin has almost no color in it, just because I'm a fan of classic Drow. I know they're much darker but the sort of colorless gray/black is how I picture "dark elves" in my head since forever. (Dunno if anyone else is a Baldur's Gate/DnD fan )

Lyssia, you're right. I guess it's meant to look shaded or whatever, like that section that you're talking about isn't skin, it's supposed to be a shade of makeup, I'll see if I can blend it more. But I'm so glad you like my crazy makeup one! Mm I'll try to find the pre-aged version of that one face for you but I think she's long gone, I don't save a lot of WIP files. I really should. If nothing else I can just try to remake it, shouldn't be too hard, I have the source image (it's Famke Janssen if you can believe that - nobody tell her I did this to her).

Really love the direction you took with this one, especially the redder eyes. The 3rd variation looks really creepy in a good way, definitely a young woman I'd expect to see wandering the ashlands and burning down some daedra on the loose.

I think this one's my most favorite right now. I love the bright (glowmapped?) eyes and the over-the-top eyeshadow.

I think I just found the face of my next character. This fits what I had in mind so well! Sadly that won't be for a few more months as it takes me forever to play through a character and only about half way through with my current one.
