[REQ] Dog companion

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2009 9:19 am

Hello dear modders.

My request it to mod a dog companion at Goodsprings. It would be great if it would have the spotter perk that Boon provides (it's quite immersive that dog warn you about enemies i think).

Because all i need for my ultimate wasteland experience is a leather armor, sawed-off shotgun with few shells and a dog companion. Please make my day :)

Have you considered adding the perk to Rex?

I've heard about the "dog" companion that is in game.. But I personally haven't seen it yet. And.. it's not a dog is it?

Well with as few spoilers as possible, it's mostly dog.

But... uhm... well...

With as few spoilers as possible, its not a dog any close to one that Max Rockatansky had (and it disappointed me greatly once I've learned). So.. thats why I'm making this request. Plus, having it from the beginning would be nice.

You could swap Rex's model with one of the say NCR dogs (they look a little more vicious). I realise I'm getting at this quite a lot, but it'll be both easier and quicker as a hotfix than trying to invent a whole new companion, particularly as the current Vanilla companions have some strange interactions with things. It depends how much time people are willing to invest.

Not only would it be easier, it's already been done.

Wouldn't it be as simple as copying Rex, changing its model, replacing perk and placing it in Goodsprings?

I would try it myself, but I'm at work at the moment, and as soon as I will be back home I know I will want to jump into the game. And with my limited knowledge of GECK I know that it will take me entire evening to do it with no confidence in the result (I always had problems with NPC).

Guys.. I know it wont be a big problem for you. And I've already spent about half an hour in GECK without getting anywhere :(

I'm sure i wont be only one very happy to see a mod like that.

I really don't see what the problem is with the mod we already posted.

To place the dog at Goodsprings, chage its perk to one that Boon provides.

P.s.
Now when i think of it, is there a quest related to recruiting the dog? Like.. if it would be placed in Goodsprings will it just follow me once i active it or not? As i said i haven't seen the dog ingame yet.

Gives you a dog that follows you from the begginning. Conviently named Dogmeat. No companion wheel (lack of dialog, npc/follower modding skills). Doesent take up a follower spot. Follows you around and helps you fight.

Also added a footlocker with leather armor, sawed-off shotgun, bullets (for the sawed-off and my caravan pack gun)

They are all stand alone files. HP PLUS is more HP for dogmeat, ES is essential status for dogmeat and ES passive should make him a passive non combat pet follower. (regular version was same that HP PLUS but with ALOT less hp)

The files are not compatible to use togeter considering it duplicates items in the same space. Pick the one you like best.
