Chapter 12

As emily and dave walked to the BOS sactuary, one of the paladins stopped them, holding out his had, "Who are you, what are you doing here?", emily looked up at the man with a sturn look, I'm here to speak with commander topla, I have some information for him, and this man is who helped me get it", the paladin thought for a minute, and motioned to the other to let them enter. The large titanium doors opened as emily and dave casually walked in, dave looked around the sactuary amazed at what the BOS had done, the sactuary seemed endless, paladins were still running around in and out of loading stations, women and men not in power armor worked in the offices calculating and decoding messages and paperwork, the barracks was to the end of the sactuary, and so was the bunker buster which was in a room dave saw with large letterings on the door saying, "KEEP OUT, AUTHORIZED PERSONEL ONLY", emily pulled dave to the armory as two paladins walked passed, emily grabbed a helmet for dave, "Here take this, and get the rest of the armor on, we need to go out on "patrol" soon", dave listened to emily as she left the room to get changed.

As emily walked out of the other room, she saw dave falling over trying to put on the chest plate, emily rushed over in her power armor pulling dave up, and helping him with the rest. After dave got his power armor on, the two grabbed a plasma rifle and laser pistol, as they headed back out into the town. Dave placed his laser pistol against his belt, that had a magnetic spot, for holding pistols, knifes, and any other secondary weapon, the two walked out of the sactuary knoding to the two paladins that had let them in. As emily and dave walked down the street, they signaled to harry who was waiting in the shadows, "Hurry harry!", dave said pulling his plasma rifle on him, harry stopped as the two paladins, walked over to him, placing cuffs on his hands, "You are know a prisoner of war, you will be taken back for questioning, do you understand?", harry knoded as they hauled him off back to the sactuary. The two paladins walked back up to the sactuary doors, with harry walking infront of them, "We need to take this prisoner in for questioning, he works with the rebels", the paladin opened the large doors as emily saluted the guard.


The three walked back to the armory as they waiting for harry to get his power armor on, emily and dave stood outside the door watching for any paladins walking by, harry walked out with a small card he had grabbed from a locker, "We'll need this to get into the room, then we can rig the bunker buster", dave knoded his head, as they hurried towards the bunker buster. As the three entered the room emily looked over to dave, "Hay dave what time did you say for jacob to detonate the bomb?", dave looked at emily, who was rigging the bunker buster, "I said for him to detonate it at 7:15am, why?", emily looked up at him and returned her attention back to the bomb, "Because they have to go off at the same time, or fairly close", as emily finished rigging the bomb, a voice came over the intercom, "To all personel you must be at your assigned loading stations, by 6:30am, all other personel may continue their work, that is all", dave looked at harry and emily for a moment, "What time is it?", harry shrugged his shoulders to the question, "Its about 5:50am, we need to get out of here!", as the three left the room, they were stopped by a fellow paladin, "Should'nt you three be at your loading stations?", emily looked at the paladin a moment, while dave and harry stood behind her, "That's where we were going, you should do the same", the paladin knoded and let the three pass, as he to headed for his loading station.

As the clock begain to start ticking, over at the rebels base jacob was rereading the letter that dave had slipped to him, "Jacob, emily told me that you were a fellow paladin, and that if she died, then you would be able to finish the mission. I'll make this simple I need you to finish the mission, detonate the bomb at 7:15am during the battle, once the rebels base is destroyed, they won't have any where to hide. P.S. DONT mess-up", jacob checked his clock on the wall, it was already 6:15am he staired at the detonator ont the table for a moment, he walked over and grabbed the detonator, from the table and walked out of the room, the rebel base was booming with chaos, rebels were gearing up for the coming battle, even though the rebels didnt know when the attack would happen, they were still getting ready, annie was walking around the complex, as she spotted jacob with the detonatar, "Oh jacob I'm glad I saw you, have you figured out how to disarm the bomb, with that thing?", jacob looked over at annie, with a surprised face, "I think I'm close to the answer, but I want to be sure, we would'nt want this place to be destroyed if I did'nt do it right", annie knoded her head and continued to inspect the complex.

As the clock struck 6:30 large doors begain to open at the sactuary, paladins begain to march in groups as they headed through the town, towards the rebel base, luckly emily, dave, and harry were in the back of the third group to leave, as they marched out of the sactuary, "Say goodbye to your place of work you two, because its about to be destroyed!", dave, harry, and emily smiled inside their helmets as the group marched through the town, when suddenly a large exsplostion entered their ears, the exsplostion from the sactuary sent chunks of rock and debris, flying into the town while on the other side of town another exsplostion could be heard, the group turned and fled, as they saw a huge cloud of smoke and debris coming towards them, dave and the two rushed for cover,inside a brick house, that was faced away from the on-coming cloud. The cloud engulfed the town in minutes, paladin and civilan alike who could'nt reach shelter were either choked by the dust, or were killed by falling rock and earth coming from the sactuary, on the otherside of town a large cloud of dust and dirt, engulfed the remaining paladins and rebels, neither side had a place to take cover, the rebels tried to take cover in burned out cars or jump into trenches, but the dust and debris followed.

The town was in total chaos, as the dust settled, people ran through the dust covered streets trying to find help, while BOS paladins tried to reorgainize and gain control of the town. Dave, harry, and emily emurged out from the brick house, to see that the town was covered in dust and debris, everything was covered in dust, large pieces of earth layed in the streets while some had rolled over houses and shops, the three could'nt believe their eye's, a mother who was covered in dust picked her child up into her arms, rushing to the medical center. The three walked around the streets, watching people as they held on to their dead loved ones in their arms, or wandered around in shock of what had happened, it would take time to rebuild all the houses and shops that had been destroyed, dave looked at the two with tears in his eye's, "I can't believe we caused all this, all I wanted to do was help rid this town of two evils, but all I did was make it worse", dave dropped to his knees crying into his hands, as emily kneeled down next to him trying to hold her tears in, "It was'nt your fault dave, its the rebels and BOS who caused this, they are the ones who made this happen, not you, you just wanted to help the people of the town", dave looked over at emily who had tears running down her face, harry did'nt know what to say, as he knelt down next to dave, and patted him on the back, "Dont worry dave, these people will rebuild, they have lived here all their lives, they will survive", dave stood up as emily and harry watched him walk away.

The next day emily and harry looked around the town for dave, they asked people who were rebuilding and cleaning up the dust if they had seen him, harry walked up to a young woman who was cleaning her house. "Exscuse me miss, can you tell me if you saw a man in armor, walking around, he's about 5'10, 190lbs, short black hair, brown eyes, have you seen him?", the woman looked at harry shaking her head at the question, "Ok thanks, but if you do, come find me!", the woman knoded and went back to her work, emily was having no luck also, it was as if dave had just walked off into nothing, the two met up at the hotel, sitting at the small table in the lobby, "Where could he have gone, I did'nt follow him cause I figured he wanted some time alone!", harry knoded as he leaned over the table, "What if he's not even in town anymore, what if he went back into the wasteland?", the two took some sips of their tea, stella had made for them, "Hay stella dave did'nt return here did he?", stella layed her book down on the table, directing her attention to harry, "No I did'nt see dave, at all, your the only one's who have come back", stella returned to her book, as harry and emily, thought of where dave could have gone.

As the day ended a mysterious figure entered the hotel, walking towards the broke counter, stella looked up at the hooded person not sure how to react, "What can I do for you tonight", the mysterious figure removed the hood, it was dave, he was a total mess, he had'nt shaved all day, he looked tired, stella hopped off her stool, "Dave your friends have been looking for you, where have you been?", dave looked down at stella with his tired eyes, "Listen stella I'm not staying, I just need some of your supplies and then I'll get out of here", stella grabbed daves arm, and walked him to the back room, "Take what you need, as much as you want, what should I tell your friends...", dave looked down at stella smiling, "I was never here, I'm going back into the wasteland its where I belong, I'm not meant for town or city life, and if emily and harry ask again just do what you've always done!", stella smiled as dave loaded some canned food, ammo, and other supplies into his pack, looking back down at stella, "Thank you stella, you've been good to me, I'm glad I met you, I'll return sometime when I return to sell my finding, but until then take care of yourself", stella begain to cry, "Take care of yourself to, Scavanger man", stella said watchng as dave walked off into the night, into what he's always known and belonged, the wasteland.

I just finished reading the story, and let me just say GREAT job, I loved the ending, it reminded me of The Road Warrriors ending, (Which I love), I've obviously posted before saying that I love the story, but that ending just hit the spot for the end of a great story, PLEASE post another story. :foodndrink:
