Signposts Retextured
A Mod by PeterBitt

I know this might be not worth a release thread but i make one anyways

It does nothing more than replacing all Signposts on Vvardenfell with readable versions with Vanilla friendly Textures.

This was my first true mod for morrowind but iam quite happy with it and you can expect no bugs as it is based on ElBundeeā€²s "Real Signposts" wich we all know and use(d).

I came here thinking "oh great, yet another signpost retexture, isnt this like the 3rd or 4th one?" But upon looking at these, they look pretty well done and I will have to think about using them.

These are really well done. Sadly, they are to low-res for my taste. But for the first time in a long time, I considered using a low-res texture over a higher res texture. Bravo

Still thinking about that one?

These arent low res at all if you ask me, just because they arent 4096x4096 textures that look as grainy as a sandboard doesnt mean they are low res. Unfortunatley most texture replacers out there for MW are ridiculously high resolution, infact some are down right stupidly high resolution. These look just the right size for what they need to be.

As far as I know, most of the textures I have seen are only 1024 with just a few at 2048 or more. 512 is still the standard for most games with a few larger scattered around, but that is with mapping. Having the next size up isnt unreasonable or rediculous when you dont have access to proper bump mapping and what not.

you have to keep the actual size of the object in mind when you talk about texture sizes.
it is not a good decision to make 4096 textures for objects with the size of a gem as it is not only a waste of memory space but also looks out of place in vanilla morrowind - and vanilla compatibility is my main goal for this mod

also the my wood texture gets blurry at sizes above 256 but only the font (vector graphic) would become sharper wich looks realy bad.

for my nirnroot mod i decided to upload a 1024 version (wich is way to much for this small object) and as expected it got more than double the downloads as for the 256 version even if the visual difference almost unnoticeable.
