Newbie to Oblivion, need recommendations.

I just received the 5th anniversary edition of Oblivion for Christmas. Fully patched with Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles included. I'm running an AMD Athlon II X4 640 processor 3.0 GHz, with an ATI Radeon HD 4200 card. I've made sure my computer can run it as it is.

I've modded a Morrowind installation by myself before, but from what I can tell this is pretty different from what I'm used to. So I would like to respectfully request some help. Any site links, recommendations for mods, overhauls, texture packs, programs I'll need, anything would be helpful to me at this point. I do like to play mages (I'll use other classes, though) and if possible I would like seamless leveling ala Galsiah's mod for Morrowind (though it's not a dealbreaker if I can't have it).

Well, first off, make an account over on http://tesnexus.com/, 95% of the mods you will be using are located there.

Secondly, there are a few things you must have. The Unofficial Patches, for standard, Shivering Isles and the DLC.

Thirdly, you will need a mod manager. You will be advised to use OBMM (Oblivion Mod Manager), but I would highly, highly suggest you learn to use Wrye Bash. Its much more powerful, and commensurately more complicated, but will make your life so much easier in the long run.

This is probably a good start besides what Nephenee13 already told you here http://tescosi.com/wiki/Main_Page. It'll give you enough information to get you started hopefully. One thing though if you're using Win 7, install your game outside C:\programs to avoid the dreaded UAC monster. Welcome to the Oblivion Modding Community  .
