And the nerd rage comes a flowing. I R SO 1337 I R NEEDINGZ BETTUR COMPETITIONZ THAN U BCUZ I SIT AND PLAY WITH MY CLANZ SIX HOURS A DAY LIKE IT R MY JOB. People like you are the type I'm talking about. Morons who get so wrapped up in the competitive aspect of the game that they ruin it. You obviously take it very seriously judging by the venomous way you came to the defense of the whole idea. Whatever man. You know what I hope you get your wish. I hope they set up a purely clan server so you and your HALO buddies can go get your "challenge" on and leave the rest of the game to people I actually enjoy playing with.
Wow, what a sad sack.
I made a post a while back trying to explain why clan support is actually a benefit to the casual gamer. I make my point by stating this:
In a prison yard, you don't mix the gang members with the guys that got thrown into prison for a DUI. You don't mix the hardcoe guys with the guys that are just "passing through", which is what most gamers are.
There are those of us that will put over a 1000 hours on a game. You can throw your "get a life lolwut" comments at that all you like, but you're posting on an internet message board about a video game, so where do you think you fall exactly?
And considering we put that kind of time into a game, we quickly realize we don't want to mix it up with random idiots. Allow me to explain:
The vast majority of people are complete idiots in all regards
People buy and play video games
The Vast Majority of video game purchasers and players are complete idiots in all regards (and the worst of them play on consoles).
You can call me an elitist all you want, but you can't tell me I'm wrong.
I've seen on MAG how this plays out, when you put the competitive players with the casual/random player. The Clans run the game.
Clans do not exist because there are guys that are uber awesome at video games that get together to own on randoms (ok, some do). Clan come into existence because players get tired of playing with schmucks. Players that tend to approach a game from the same perspective tend to gravitate towards another and run together. Eventually they become online friends and while never meeting or even sharing a FB page, they communicate and know each other for years.
Clans aren't always about epeen measuring and smack talk. What it really comes down to is players playing with players like themselves. Then comes the trash talk, the raging, the QQing, and the lulz.
Not every clan you run into is good. In fact, most clans aren't all that good. They do just fine against a pack of random players, but fail against other clans. Which goes to support the theory that not all clans are super competitive. It's really just about playing with like minded guys and burning each other over the mic.
But since they are a clan, they're going to know each other's tendencies and will, through sheer familiarity, beat a squad with equal or slightly better talent that is full of randoms.
Now, if you take a clan that's dedicated to winning, like mine, and put us up against 8 random players?....it's going to be a massacre.
Separating the clans from the randoms actually helps both sides out. Always has, always will.
If you can't follow that, then there's no help for you. You'll always be a small minded simp that floats from game to game.
