Help with CTD every 10 minutes.

I am having CTD every 10 minutes while playing oblivion. I don't know which mod is causing it so i was hoping you guys could help spot an incompatible mod.Here are all my mods.

I was just looking at your mod lists and noticed that you have two versions of streamline. :biggrin: May I ask why for what reason? :nope: :unsure2: You just need either one for it to work. Also, did you sort your order using BOSS? :eek: :whoops: If you haven't already, I suggest you do to avoid further headache. :starwars: :excl:

I have 2 different streamlines because 3.1 was doing more damage to my oblivion by slowing it down, but i couldn't figure out how to uninstall it so i just deleted the streamline folder and install version 3.0 instead. Now it is doing its job and is much more stable.And yes i have used boss.


And to answer the other question yes i am running OSR ( im guessing this means oblivion stutter remover?) and i am using streamline version 3.0

To try and help you they became more frequent after installing the following mods today: Bedrolls, Heroes retreat(a house mod), Beautiful people ( could this be incompatible with TNR (tamriel npc's revamped)?), and attack and hide. I also installed other but i cant remember them at the moment, i am trying to fish them out of my load order now


Ok i found some of them but i think there are others, not sure : AT home Alchemy and B79_Talos Plaza Home.

Could be that the streamline 3.1 is conflicting with 3.0? Both are active according to your mod list. Maybe you ought to deactivate 3.1 esp too? If that doesn't help, try switching the heap mode and size to see if it would stabilize the game. Mind you, it will take you few tries to find the right combination. If that doesn't work, see if you can deactivate the recent addition to your mods one at a time and check each time.

I could be wrong but TNR and Beautiful People overlap on what they change to NPCs. I would drop Beautiful People because it gave me problems before. I don't see anything else that could cause crash. Question: does your game load the main menu and save file without any problem?

Streamline 3.1 and 3.0 are very most likely not meant to be used simultaneously. They are from different authors, and only 3.0 is the real Streamline from the orginal author, who by the way never gave his approval to the other author to modify 3.0 IIRC, he also did not formally made his disapproval known, but anyway in any case 3.1 is not "official". If I was you I would most definitely disable it, certainly if using 3.0

I use 3.0 and there is no reason why one would need 3.1.

Yes they do, i also forgot to say that i installed streamline 3.0 today aswell. I think i will try to get rid of TNR instead because it caused clipping in the neck and on the arms. I also installed beautiful people manually so it will take to long to uninstall :D

Are you sure you have your install of FCOM correct? All install info is in the opening post of the official FCOM thread. If in doubt, show them your load order.

I would not use Living Economy but install Enhanced Economy instead. It is more modern, and is fully compatible with everything. It requires OBSE though. But maybe you have that installed already.

I think you do not need Drop Lit Torches OBSE because DLT is already integrated into Oscuro's OOO. Disable your DLT-OBSE at least for testing.

And disable Streamline 3.1 and from 3.0 only use the streamsave function and the purge cell buffers function, possibly use the fog function (streamsight?) if you like that. Do not use the various FPS functions as they overlap with OSR. Just let OSR handle all the FPS stuff.

If you have not yet found http://tescosi.com/wiki/Oblivion, go read there on many aspects of modding the game. There is also a big section about installing FCOM. It helped me a lot. IIRC there is also a section on Streamline, what to use and what not. I went by it. The whole site is definitely worthwhile.


Edit: SORRY Streamline 3.1 is indeed the latest official version!! Sorry for the messup!! There was another version later by that other author, but I just double-checked with my setup now, and I do have 3.1 and not 3.0 as stated earlier. Once again I apologize! I feel like an idiot now, rightfully so.

OK then in this case scrap your SL 3.0 and install the 3.1 version.

Streamline has an .ini file named sl.ini which sits in Data/Streamline/INI Files folder. Go open, read and edit it as necessary with Notepad. :smile:

Again sorry for the messup with the versions. What you need to download from Nexus is
- Streamline 3.1 Open Beta (1st file listed on Nexus)
AND in addition
the "Streamline_3dot1_Open_Beta Patch" file which is the 5th file listed on Nexus.

You need to install both of them, first the "Open Beta", then the "Patch".


Edit: The patch actually consists only of an updated Streamline 3.1.esp file.

Sorry but how do you change streamline settings? I a bit of a noob.
Open the SL ini file and read the description. Basically you are turning the features on/off by changing the number from 1 to 0 and vice versa.

wereireland, I also noted from your modlist that your Unofficial Oblivion Patch (UOP) is an old version 3.2.0. Keep this, but install 3.4.0 over it. But verify the UOP instructions from their latest official thread. (I think I have that correct but I thought so about SL earlier too...)

However, Do not install the very newest UOP 3.4.1 as there is a problem with streched Clannfear and Daedroth heads, especially for FCOM players. The workaround is easy, but resolve your other problems first before looking at 3.4.1. :wink: There is not too much really between 3.4.0 and 3.4.1 anyway, nothing gamebreaking anyway.


Edit: Oh and did you not install the UOP for Shivering Isles?? Cannot find it in your modlist?

You have numerous Francesco's add-on that should not be used in any FCOM installation. Choose only one Bob's Armory plug-in.

I think if you change streamline settings you need to reinitialize it. There is a key combination you use ingame to bring up the streamline menu and choose initialize.

However, you should really clean it up. Streamline install only has the esp file in the data directory and the streamline folder in the data directory. Removin the esp and streamline folder removes streamline.

You should definitely use the latest beta version 3.1. For testing though you can go without it or just use the streampurge option (set all others to 0).

And yes you need to fix your FCOM install. I would start with just the basic mods from FCOM and not put in any other options until you verify your crashes are gone. Then add the options a few at a time.

If I remember correctly you were posting with ctd issues a couple weeks ago as well. As I suggested before, you need to Read Every Single Readme For Every Mod, as a lot of the problems you are having can be easily avoided by following the instructions and understanding what you are installing. You can't just throw a list of mods into the data folder and expect them to work. Not trying to be mean, I am just speaking from many, many painful mistakes of my own. Getting a fully modded Oblivion to work takes patience :)

As Peter ID suggested, the best way to eliminate crashes completely is to revert to the most basic FCOM installation. Install mods one at a time and play-test for a bit. If one mod reacts strangely, then you will know what the problem is instead of having to guess which one of the 60-some mods is causing the issue.
You might want to uninstall Oblivion completely and start from scratch. That way you know you have a blank slate that works properly.

Thanks for the help guys, i will post this on fcom thread.

Also as much as i want to do a clean install of Oblivion i cant. I have limited time before i return to school and also i would have to redownload every mod i installed, some 2-3GB. Its just not an option for me at the moment.

More info reference Streamline ..

If you are installing mods using Wrye Bash - Wrye made a BAIN out of the streamline files (both 3.1 and the 3.1 update patch) available here http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22170

After editing the ini to get your settings right (have a good read of all the documentation for this), as Peter ID says you need to re-initialize ..

Thing is, Streamline reads its ini once, after you first installed it, and played the game for the first time with it installed.

After that, whenever you make saves, or streamline makes its own saves, the settings for streamline are part of your save.

So the logic is - After a first read of your streamline ini settings, streamline does not need to read the ini again, because it loads them from the settings it stored in your save file.

So if you edit the ini - Streamline does not know because it will not look at it again ..

What you have to do every time you edit the ini, go back into your game and continue playing (old settings loaded from your save). While in game, press and hold the Right Ctrl key, then also press the Home Key.

You now get a Streamline menu pops up - Choose Special Actions. Then choose ReInitialise with INI settings.

Now streamline reads the ini again, and you need to do a new save and continue on from that save and subsequent saves which will have the new ini settings thereafter.

If you edit the ini again afterwards, you have to do the above again.
