Brink is fun, but it would be funner if?

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2009 9:09 pm

Got into the game and it's fun. The leg was pretty bad, but seems better now. And now suggestions.

1.) The stats should be IN game. (changing shooters by taking away things is a bad start)

2.) Different Game Modes. FREEPLAY (only two ways to play each map, how about three, or four, or five) The spawns are set well for all the regular game types, TDM, CTF, and so on...

3.) Game mode idea: BOMB THE BASE. Each team has a base close to their spawn and first team to bomb the other guys base wins. Done by placing a charge of course.

4.) Allow multi player challenges to unlock items.

5.) Another Game Mode: TOTAL WAR: Each side has 100 re-spawns play till they're gone, but doing the in game objectives adds reinforcements. ex. 10 for side objectives, 20 for main objectives. *GOOD IDEA!

6.) GIVE US GAME STATS after match.

7.) If no stats, then atleast more awards. ex most buffs, most deaths, headhunter etc.

That's all for now. What do you think? Hopefully it's not just grammarians who tell me funner is not a word.

Meh I don't think we need the in game kill/death ratio's. SD's whole goal of that was to take the focus away from killing and put it on the objectives. Though the "most buffs/headshots/(other random stats)" would be kinda cool just to see what everyone strong points were.

Honestly it would be more fun if the class you chose affected the game play at all beyond your buff and your use ability. I consistently join games where there are 0 operatives unless its a hack mission because all your points come from buffs and the operative has nothing. Class skills need to do more, and the operative needs to go back to the drawing board, no one is using it.

You can not really go near the enemies spawn camp because of the indestructible turrets there, I like it that way because it prevents spawn camping. A ticket count sounds fun but probably will only work for modes like CTF or Conquest. I don't really care for TDM/DM because they get boring fast due to the heavy camping and no objectives. Just being a runner and gunner is never funner.

operatives serve a very specific role and in certain circumstances they arent needed as much as other classes. That being said I definitely join games where there is usually at least 1 operative all the time. And if you know how to play the operative correctly you can get a butt load of points i have outscored medics and engineers while playing as my light operative. However, the operative can only really start getting some major xp once he has unlocked up to the rank 4 abilities (comms hack, disguise, and caltrops net major xp).

I like pretty much everybody's ideas. I really hope Splash and Bethesda support this game in a growing sort of way.
They got in to some new territory here and there are some shortcomings to be sure. But that was to be expected. Given the nature of online gaming with all the potential for patches and add-ons and such I see potential for this game to shape itself in to something truly great without us having to wait for a sequel.

That said I agree with Hoodlum. I wish the Operative was a bit more functional. It really does feel like a tacked on class. I think that really shines in that it's the only class without buffs. It really only serves a purpose when something needs hacking. It's other perks are fun to use but my team has won plenty of matches with only using the Operative when truly needed(not often)
I wouldn't mind a total restructuring of that class. Specifically because in any given match the Soldier, Medic, and Engineer(my personal fav) are absolutely necessary. You can not win a match if any of them aren't represented.
The same can't be said of the Operative. They need to give it more significance to the overall effort beyond just hacking

CTF and KOTH like everyone's saying. No TDM though.

Overhaul them weapons, need more for da Lights to run around with. Not a huge fan of my only choices being Submachine Gun and Sniper Rifle. I understand why, but I'd like to have a medium-ranged automatic weapon, even if it feels like a peashooter.

New maps, sir. Need 'em already. The ones that shipped with the game aren't bad by any means, but there are only 8. I mean, how many times can I defend Container City before I start yearning for a change of scenery?

Um. I'm starting to not hate enemy AI, but beef up the AI on the player's team for singleplayer and it'll actually not be an awful singleplayer game. Bots are better than most players anyway, even on Easy.

Give me like 2 more levels, PLEASE, so I can effectively cross-class without losing efficiency :( I'll love you forever Splash Damage!!
