Ivellon's "Toll the bells"

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 11:37 pm

Hello everyone,

As the title says, i'm kinda stuck in the Ivellon 1.8 mod.

SPOILER ALERT from here.

So, i'm now at the place where i must toll the bells to call the dude. I've got the Hammer/staff that has the "toll the bells" script on it, with only 1 charge. I don't know what to do to toll the bells exactly, it's probably stupid but i didn't find it.

I'm using the staff on the bells in the order mentionned in the letter but it's doing nothing. I used the staff then hit the bells with a weapon, it's doing nothing either. Also, they are not "activateable", before or after the spell.

What am i missing here ? Or is it a bug ?

PS : I've searched many walkthroughs and all of those i found told me to toll the bells in the right order, without mentionning precisely how.

Thanks for your time.

If I remember correctly, You need to find a "bell hammer". That is what you use to strike the bells in the right order, not a staff or other weapon.

I do have that Bell hammer, like i wrote in my first post but the thing is, i don 't get anything from the bells (While "hitting" the bells with the bell hammer), even with that thing (It works like a staff actually).

The bells should ring (each one a different tone) if you hit them with the hammer (use the attack button while holding the hammer). If you are hearing the sound and nothing happens, then you are not hitting in the right order. If you are not hearing the sound then try getting closer and make sure the aiming reticle is on the bell.

Thanks for the video ... i'll try again and give some news asap. I tried it a pretty much that distance but the effect on the hammer just works once, i don't hear any bells. The spell just lights up in red and fades away. I can't do anything after that. Give me 5 mins.

EDIT : Tried it again at the exact same distance shown in your video and that's all i'm getting ---> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thkZRrdGqeA&feature=plcp&context=C3f2d025UDOEgsToPDskI7ST1GAMoXQoEaLzdppEVa

The tip of the hammer casts a red spell effect, no bells are ringing and then i'm only getting an empty charged weapon warning. Here's my load order :

I looked it up in the CS
Name is ivglockenhammer
It is labelled as a staff
It does have a charge of 1 but no script is attached.

So I think you have the right object.
The only thing in your load order I can't see is "Cyrodiil Border Regions" which is supposed to be needed for the Ivellon mod, but I cannot see that being the cause of the bells not working. (and you have other Cheydinhal mods that might affect the border.)

The only suggestion I have right now is to move Ivellon down in the order. (with any patches after it) I have mine loaded after Supreme Magicka

So, tried to put everything related to Ivellon after SupremeMagicka, rebuilt the bashed patch and i have the same results ... the Bell hammer shoots the red balls, spends the charge and no bell are ringing .... ffuuuu-

I'll continue to search for a similar bug, but so far i don't even have a clue.

Thanks for your time Dowaco btw.

SP1stPLegs.esp

This is the problem. I use this as well and encountered the exact same problem. It seems the aim is off or something, but I just couldn't complete it with this on. Either deactivate it for the moment or just use the console to progress.

edit: Saw your most recent post, you should try disabling Supreme Magicka instead of just moving it in the load order.

Thanks, i'll try that right now. In the game, i don't even use it since my character is not good enough in Acrobatics to use DR's kicks and probably never will be.

EDIT : Seems it doesn't work just by taking off SP1stPlegs, even after a bashed patch rebuild. I'm trying supreme magicka now.

EDIT 2 : reactived the SP1stPlegs mod, flushed supreme magicka, rebuilt bashed patch and the same stupid red ball appears on the bell hammer and nothing happens ! Ugh.

What's the console numbers for the quest script, anyone has that ?!

Bump, i'm still stuck, i'd be really thankful if someone had any clue about the problem or where i could get the console data and commands to pass that step in the game.

It's all about aiming. Wouldn't work if you aim your crosshair directly at the bells and attack. Standing directly in front of a bell, aim your crosshair above the wooden bar holding the bells then attack. Sweet spot should be somewhere there, try the general vicinity if you can't get it.

It seems it does the trick to make the bell ring, but the hammer still spends it's charge and i can't do anything else after the 1st bell, even if i'm aiming at the exact same place on the second one.

Now, that's a bug i guess.

Ok sorry to be rude but this freakin script is just pure crap.

I had to call with the consoles tons of Varla stones to reload the staff every damn time i used it, then aiming almost randomly way over the bells in the right order, while spending tons of stones and when i was done with the right order (and i tried it at least 3 times) , pretty much nothing happened.

Btw, i checked the video again and the bells all sound differently if they are it in the right order. Mine all sound the same even if i hit them like in the video. I think that if the charge on the weapon is spent, it messes the script and thinks you're not doing it in the right order.

Next time, Lazarus, can you just please use space bar activated switches or something like that ?! It will probably be a lot less messy. Outside that freakin hassle on the bells, love the mod so far. Why should i do simple when there's complicated way to do it hey ?

Hmm it shouldn't be doing that, might be conflicts with another mod. Either disable your mods until you find the culprit or cheat. Open the console, click on the left-most bell, enter this: set ivdungeonbells to 6

Edit: For the record, it's working fine for me and my game is way heavier modded.

Thanks for the console command. I just hate it when i have to do that kind of things.

Btw, that Hyeronimus or something like that, he's a real ***** to smack down. lots of health (and i have 250% dmg multiplier with DR) , resist poison and paralysis and stuff , plus i'm a level 22 with very good items and a magic conduit.
