Ogre in underwear

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 12:27 am

I've recently resurrected an old game and I stumbled upon an unusual site that I've never heard about before.

Just before I reached the hamlet of Aleswell, I noticed a corpse to the side of the road. The body turned out to be a face-down ogre wearing a hat and a pair of blue and white boxer-ish underwear. Here's a link to an image: http://www.mediafire.com/i/?6guc4gco1n6tazs

His name is Ottfried when I hover over the corpse.

Is this ogre part of a quest? If so, I'm not sure how I started it or how to proceed. Anyone seen this guy before? Wear did he get the material for those skivvies?

Actually, that's not an ogre. It's an Imperial scholar named Brucis Banneris. Looks like that temper of his finally met someone meaner.

So that's my load order. I'm not sure for certain what a RefScope or FormID are, but when I go to console mode and hover over the dead ogre, this is the thing I think you want to see:

"FF" means it was generated in-game.

However, what I actually meant was to use either http://tes.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=21862 or http://tes.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=16704 either of which will tell you exactly what mod an item or NPC comes from

Likely a mod or re-skin. Are you running any mod's?

Also, a quick Google search turned up the original FCOM website.

Ah. That's it.

I did a search last night on "Ottfried" and I didn't see that. Maybe I wasn't smart enough to search using the obvious "Ottfried Oblivion" terms.

I wonder who offed him. My character went on a moderate rampage through that area at night recently, but I think I would remember having faced him.

Anyway, mystery solved.

Thanks, all.

I think he's from WarCry actually. I'm not sure if FCOM plugins add any custom monsters of its own.

It also is probably a tongue in cheek reference to the http://www.google.ch/search?q=ottfried+fischer&hl=de&client=opera&hs=xDT&rls=de&channel=suggest&prmd=imvnsuo&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=BusjT-2aGene4QS2xomkCQ&ved=0CEkQsAQ&biw=1139&bih=827 who has about the same physical appearance as an Ogre (although much friendlier guy), and he is from Bavaria. The colors of the in-game Ottfried's pants/shorts are the colors of the Bavarian flag.

Yeah, he's a named creature from Warcry - that mod adds a couple dozen of those, like Paris the rat, Duriel the land dreugh, and Treehead Woodsprite the spriggan.

Tommy_H,

I think you're right about "Ottftried" being a reference to both that ogre-ish looking dude and the Bavarian flag.

WalkerInShadows,

Cool, I don't recall having battled any enemies with those names. I guess they might pop up in the future. Are these enemies completely unique, like you face them once and only once, or is there just a random chance that an enemy might be one of these special creatures?

They're non-unique boss-level creatures - so, they spawn rarely, but you can encounter them more than once.

They are all named enemies from Diablo 2, if you've played that. Funny that Duriel is a land dreugh

Rakanishu, Pukerat the Unclean, Bongo - these are goblin bosses, non-unique. Then there is Alastor, the imp boss.
