TESCOSI - Expansion and Organization

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 8:34 pm

FYI: TESCOSI is now open for everyone to sign up!!

This thread is for the discussion and expansion of TESCOSI. Everything else about TESCOSI can be discussed on the Discussion pages of the wiki or http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1207143-tescosi/. If you would like to help out, please let me know. Everyone is free to edit pages, but, for now, page creation needs to be discussed beforehand. This is the place to propose additional sections/projects for the site. If you want to contribute a guide or FAQ that already goes along with the existing content, just let me know so that I can give you the appropriate user rights.

If you wish to add pages, please, post what you want to contribute, and once we determine where/how it fits, I will grant the appropriate user rights. I'm still trying to figure this stuff out... It would be nice to have content written from a different perspective.

Stay Focused!!
  • This site is about the mod user not modders
  • Content: installation guides, utility help, troubleshooting help, etc.
  • This is not a replacement for TESCS wiki
Goals
  • Flesh out site organization
  • List current and future (short term) projects

I need to clean up the old Oblivion and General namespaces, but I want to leave the redirects up for a while.

Reading for those new to wiki editing

TESCOSI article creation guidelines/templates

First of all, all pages should be categorized. Please, use the template CATs illustrated below.

Also, certain types of pages can be standardized with templates. Here are a few I've already started using:

CATs - http://tescosi.com/wiki/Template:CATs
>> example usage:
{{CATs|Intro,Guides}}
>> This template is usually included at the top of the article, making it easy to see what categories the article is in.

Tips
  • Document all templates and categories so that other will know how to use them.
  • Try to maintain common formatting among articles of the same type.
  • For the most part page titles are case-insensitive. Therefore, you do not have to type "CATs" the way I did, that's just the way I made the name of the template. That should be true for all internal links. I think it would be better if titles were properly capitalized, but as far as linking and searching goes the capitalization does not matter. If you happen to mess up the capitalization when creating a page, you can [b]Move[/i] the page to a page with the appropriate capitalization.

I wonder if I can add two-tiered folding to the navbar on the left...

--Tomlong75210

Edit: I could replicate the sidebar as I had it at the old site, with three levels of folding, using JS. The problem is that if a user has JS disabled, the sidebar will be super, super long... On the other hand, it would allow almost every major page to be accessible at all times...

Just finished: Implemented 3-tier nav bar, added all major links to sidebar

Next:

Need to categorize all pages in the wiki --in progress...
Write simple complete Oblivion setup guide for newbies
