Face textures

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 8:38 pm

Hello, I just got myself a new computer and decided to replay Oblivion with mods and all. The game looks gorgeous but i have a little problem with the face texture, hasn't anyone made high res textures or something for faces ? Here's a screenshot of a female in a mod, it's a custom race but the facial textures look amazing, does anyone know any mods that do just that ?

This is actually a good point, something I noticed a while ago, there have been no face mods since about 2007 or so.

The aging textures in particular look really blocky when compared to a custom race. Natural faces is a nice mod, but it should have been superceded by something higher-rez by now.

Yeah, that's what I mean ... :/

Here's what I use: Enayla's Faces (http://tes.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=9534) along with Improved Facial Textures (http://tes.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=5643). Some of the textures overlap; you'll have to install one first, then the other over it (I think it's Enayla first, then IFT, but don't quote me on that). I also use Tweaked Generic Faces (http://tes.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=9119) - all that does is move all the sliders to the left so it's easier to make a good-looking face at chargen; it also makes most NPCs better-looking.

I think it's the other way 'round--IFT does the aging textures very well, but Enayla's base texture is better so it should be installed last.
In any case, newer doesn't necessarily mean better. The mod textures linked above might be several years old, but they are excellent, and it's very possible to make a beautiful character with them. But note that what you see in screenshots isn't always what you get. Many of the super-gorgeous models shown in screenshots are often photoshopped (not pointing fingers at the one you linked to, as I'm not familiar with it)--i.e., either a photoshop facial image can be imported to make the character, or the screenshot itself might be enhanced.

Personally, I think Natural faces is better - I have been using IFT, but I'm switching back to NF because although IFT was well done, I find NF offers a cleaner and less pixelated face.

Another option many people think is better is to take the heads from this body texture mod. (Or consider using all of it if you are using the body mods it requires) http://tes.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=19021
Sorry the link has gone a bit funny. It's meant to be tesnexus file 19021

You should still use IFT

Head06 is the way to go. The difference is seriously night and day.
