Clothes under Armor?

Post » Thu Dec 03, 2009 1:54 am

@ the guys complaining that it's unrealistic to wear clothes under armor, you try it and tell us how comfortable it is going bare-chested and donning a metal plate of armor, not the most comfortable thing I can tell you.

Right, and I suppose that wearing a full silk outfit under a heavy padded arming jacket, which itself may or may not be under a layer of chainmail (if said mail isn't stitched onto the arming jacket outright) which itself is under the actual plate layer, is any better: nope, no friction, no blockage, no tearing, no additional sweat accumulation, nothing. Oh, and don't forget the big, frumpy flowing mage's robe that won't trip you up or get caught up in the heat of combat in any way! IMMERSION!

Yes! It was blatantly missing from Oblivion!

Robes over armor, too!

I can see it working if wearing light armor otherwise clothes would not I assume be big enough to cover someone wearing say Ebony or Daedric armor being rather bulky that it is.

Hehe, just picking on the first illogical post I find here :P
Anyways, read the topic name:
Clothes under Armor

Anyways, ofcourse! But only if the armour is made so that you SEE the clothes under it. Like in Morrowind.

While they did not quote anyone it came right after the discussion of also having robes over armor which is what they were clearly talking about.

It is true that it is often taken to extremes, however most people are sensible enough not to overload their character with every single slot. And this point isn't about immersion, I never said that, its about customizability, they are two very different things

Plus I maintain my previous stance, wearing armor without a protective layer of clothes underneath over the skin can make it unnecessarily uncomfortable and possibly harmful to the skin.

With that philosophy we'd end up with a linear TESV akin to Final Fantasy XIII. Now I liked FFXIII, but it's pretty much the antithesis of what TESV should be.

It's really just a way to cheese the enchantment system, and kind of unnecessary.

Aside from enchantment stacking, the only real reason I used it at all in Morrowind was to cover up unsightly gaps in my armor. Oblivion didn't really have that, and neither should Skyrim, so..
