I want to lock my display case with a need a key lock. Is there a mod that lets you create a key for something?

Hmm... that wouldn't be very hard to make, honestly. At least assuming there's an OBSE function to set the key that a door uses, and I'm pretty sure there is.

On the other hand, the Lock spell was removed from the game because it screwed up the AI's pathfinding horribly for doors that weren't supposed to be locked to be locked... *shrug*

Wasnt there also a darkness spell that was removed? i tried it out hoping and fearing it would create a black hole. :P

Yeah, they removed Darkness, too. That one seems to have been removed just because it didn't work.

I'd be happy with a "jamming" spell. Sure, you'd have to pick your way back in, but if you have got the skills to jam a lock, you should be able to "bash" it open or open it back up.

And what is this Darkness Spell you speak of?

You could probably just make a simple key and locked item in the CS.

To lock something, you must first create a key. This is exactly the same as creating a new container, except with a key (which are all found under 'Items/Key' in the Object Window) instead of a container. The only things that will need to change are the ID and the Name of the key.

Now, double click the case . Select the 'Lock' tab, and tick the 'Locked' box. Since you don't want the lock to be able to be picked to get into the case (unless you do), set the lock level to 'Needs a key'. Then, select the Key that you have just created in the drop down menu, and press OK. Your case is now locked.

You can use the same key for multiple cases as well

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion%3a%44arkness is darkness. It doesn't really do much except visual effects, so it isn't that useful except for some interesting visual effects to spells or actions. Was never used in the game because "the spell's icon doesn't work in the game."

I'm thinking about this locking thing and it should be ok, as long as you heed the warning and do not use it on anything except display cases you should be fine, the effects of prolonged AI path-block are quite unpredictable, especially when used on altmer females. You could simply type this in the console without the brackets (player.addSpell 000A9805) or (player.addSpell 000A982D) That should give you the spell-effect and make it available via the spell/enchanting altars for use, you could even get two dagger, enchant one with lock and one with unlock of equal magnitudes to have your keys if you want to go really basic and unmodded.
