Mister Sandman - Why not just kill them while they're sleeping the regular way?

...because it's a guaranteed OHK, it's silent and bonus XP?

Ultimate self gimping perks:

Jury Rigging - You lazy asses who got this perk dont need it.
Infiltrator - How about you just dont force the lock?
Computer Whiz - Exit the terminal before the you get locked out moron
Light Step - Watch where you're walking and you'll be fine
By a Campfire - You could just speed travel to a bed
Junk Rounds - I tried it once and realized I would never need to use it
Night Person - Useless especially if ED-E is with you
Mister Sandman - Why not just kill them while they're sleeping the regular way?
Animal Friend - Unlike in Fallout 3, this perk is factually useless in the Mojave Wasteland because animals are very rarely ever around the other creatures. There's virtually no interaction between them.
Explorer - You dont need it
Educated - You can max out without it
Comprehension - You can max out without it
Here and Now - The most uselsess of them all

Ok, there's more but I'll stop.

Comprehension is definitely NOT useless as it makes maxing out that much easier for a player with ~4 INT, and more importantly, it increases the skill boost of magazines from 10 to 20. With a 20 point skill boost, a player can effectively save 20 points to Science, Lockpick, Speech, Merchantile and other passives, simply using a magazine whenever they need to open a very hard lock. Comprehension is -THE- skill that allowed me to meet every single skill check in Dead Money.

I find Jury Rigging to be extremely helpful. I don't know how I would maintain my Desert Ranger armor without it. It really saves on weapon repair kits, too.

I don't play "hardcoe", because I feel like gimping myself is a stupid thing to do, and that perks should be rewards for getting far in the game - not useless garbage that I get just to prove I'm a man. Because, let's face it, people who intentionally gimp themselves are attempting to prove manliness, but all they really do is prove stupidity. If an advantage is offered, you take it. Admittedly, some of the perks I'm listing below aren't that useful, but I found them interesting and I still put them to use in-game, rather than using them just to gimp myself. My perks are:

Confirmed Bachelor - more damage to males, yes plz
Comprehension - extra skill points from books, yes plz
Educated - more skill points, yes plz
Intense Training (1) - more endurance for implants, yes plz
Junk Rounds - free ammo from crap I find on the ground, yes plz
Light Step - no more deaths from missing tripwires, yes plz
Grim Reaper's Sprint - AP recharge for killing people, yes plz
Sneering Imperialist - more damage against pesky raiders, yes plz
Commando - better rifle aiming in VATS, yes plz
Terrifying Presence - be able to intimidate people, yes plz
Weapon Handling - more accurate aiming with crap strength, yes plz
Tag! - better Barter = more money, yes plz

I'm not quite as VATS-dependent as some of these perks make me out to be, but I find it useful as a fail-safe when [censored] hits the fan. Overall, though, I tend to take perks in the spur of the moment rather than thinking it through (for example, Sneering Imperialist was taken after clearing out Zion and after taking care of most of the Fiends, meaning for me it had limited use, as I resolved conflicts with the Great Khans peacefully, and most other raiders were either easy to kill or already dead).

Intentionally gimpinig your self isn't hardcoe its just gimping yourself
-Bravo. Da capo.

Its not like adding to the difficulty will suddenly give the AI a burst, have the mobs employ proper small unit tactics, proper sentry procedure, proper use of grenades, Fire and cover, use whatever means they have available including stims and stealths to get you. Nope. Going to "very hard" means "just as stupid, only thicker skin". I can see the "difficult" bit about that. You end up using more Weapon repair kits and stimpacks. Going "hardcoe" means getting sleep and getting water. None of these are in the least bit hard to get. Its just a time sink.

For the people who enjoy hardcoe "challenges" i have a good one. Emulate http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simo_H%C3%A4yh%C3%A4.

Kill 505 people with a rifle with no optic sights.
Kill 200 more with a crap 9mm smg.
Sneak into the boomer camp and top at least 3-5 boomers twice and survive at lest 2 artillery bombardments.
Sleep 6 hrs a day, carry only non-stat gear, 70 rounds of ammo per trip and essential food.
No reloads, and getting below 50 pct health means you loose challenge.

Achieve the above in 100 days and You are hardcoe. Or decent. Because you did it behind a computer screen and he did it in minus 40 degrees and could die from any number of reasons every day.

I use VATS cause it's a rpg, not a fps. Im also tempted to take Sneering Imperialist for my new NCR Veteran Ranger simply because it fits the character but I may have to sacrifice Rapid Reload which is fine I guess since Im getting Quick Draw so I can quickly switch to the Ranger Sequoia to "Run n Gun" when the Medicine Stick runs out of ammo.

The Reinforced Spine perk in Old World Blues made Weapon Handling useless by the way. It's a waste.

I already took Weapon Handling before OWB, but now i can use the CZ57 Avenger because of Reinforced Spine without using power [censored] armour... so it's all good.

lol at Bloody Mess being bad. Just like when stacking Crit Chance perks, when stacking flat damage increasing perks, every little bit helps.

Bloody Mess
+5% vs everything
Black Widow/Confirmed Bachelor
+10% to males
Cherchez La Femme/Lady Killer
+10% to females
Entomologist
+50% vs Insects
Eye for Eye
+60% if all limbs crippled
Living Anatomy
+5% vs NPCs
Purifier
+50% vs Abominations
Robotics Expert
+50% vs Robots
Thought You Died
+10% vs everything

Abominable (3)
+10% vs Abominations
Animal Control (3)
+10% vs Animals
Bug Stomper (3)
+10% vs Insects
DNAgent
+10% Nightslakers
DNAvenger (3)
+30% vs Cazadors
Implant C-13
+10% vs Cazadors
Lonesome Road
+10% vs everything
Lord Death (3)
+4% vs everything
Machine Head (2)
+6% vs Machines
Marked
+10% vs Marked Men
Mutant Massacrer (3)
+10% vs Super Mutants

I wouldn't recommend taking Robotics Expert or Entomologist because there aren't enough robots in the game for it to be relevant and the only hard to kill insects in the game are Cazadors which are taken care of handily by the DNAvenger and Implant C-13 perks. Cherchez La Femme/Lady Killer are almost useless for the same reason as Robotics Expert. And the Purifier perk is only useful for Unarmed/Melee characters, but the amount of damage that can be stacked with flat damage perks is quite a bit. Especially Eye for Eye which is a very underestimated perk.

since I play as a Demo-man, nothing gets as hardcoe as detonating nuke mines behind me with shades and sending a 40mm grenade into the Legendary Deathclaws face, egging him to come and get me and take a wiff of me ol brimstones (while treading up to greatly placed Frag mines, Bottlecap Mines, plasma mines, and a nuke mine just to give off a good flavor)..needless to say, I had a LOT of fun that night XD

basically all the damage up perks and Explosive perks, along with DT perks.

playing on Very Hard, hardcoe mode, no crosshairs, and DID.

I consider "hardcoe" to be limiting yourself intentionally for a challenge. I consider being "badass" having an extremely powerful character. Nothing wrong with either. I like to try going for a combination. For example, making a cowboy character who uses a field hand outfit and uses weapons like the caravan shotgun, but also has good perks.

hardcoe is to onlly play DID, nerfing yourself is a lil dumb in my opinion i onlly nerf myself in one thing and that is the logan loophole so i can't go over lv30, and i don't use Vats other than that everything goes not to get killed ever ;)

All this talk about hardcoe.

I don't have my list in front of me right now, I'll have to look when I get home. But, I play on hardcoe and I'm sure a lot of my perks don't make me hardcoe.

Here is the $64K question though, WHOM HAS PLAYED WITHOUT TAKING ANY PERKS WHATSOEVER ON hardcoe??

I think that would be the epitome of hardcoe right there.

I may try it next playthrough.

Allow me to tell you of the hardest of cores. A character simply called Survivorman. hardcoe mode, Very Hard difficulty, DiD playthrough. Killed by two thugs in Primm who survived multiple landmines and headshots with the 357. Now that is hardcoe. It's also kind of silly in it's own right. "YEAH I'M HARD I PLAY VIDEO GAMES" hahaha.

A real man faces the legendary Deathclaw wearing only his underwear and armed only with a straight razor
Straight razor?you need to do it in very hard with hardcoe mode on,no healing items and unarmed at level 1.

That is truly hardcoe,but possible,i don't know.

I normally create survivalist style characters.

Obviously Joe tends to pick trading/talking/bookish perks. No weapon perks or skill at all (although obviously he actively avoids combat situations).
