The Telvanni Crime Lord.

Chapter one

Sarthan satt on his chair, which resembled much more a throne than an actual chair, gazing upon his servants. His right hand the Kahjit Saza had brought bad news from the city.

“The guards found our stash and confiscated all the gods,” bellowed the enraged catman.
“What happened to OUR guards?”
“They drank themselves unconscious, now they sit in jail waiting for the judge to come.”
“Damned scum” yelled Sarthan filled with rage! “Make sure they regret their mistake…”
“Yes master of course”, hissed Saza.

He knew what had to be done. The only problem was that they were imprisoned. The dungeon in which they were held was none less than Fort Buckmoth, a fort with a respectable garrison. While someone not adept in the art of stealth might find it a near impossible task, Saza saw it as nothing more than a basic mission. He had been to Buckmoth several times on different errands, most of them involving some sort of killing. The halls of the fort were known to the Kahjit and the mission would be an easy one. He ran of immediately.

Sarthan knew he could trust the Kahjit with such a task. The catman had been a very loyal friend, a companion, during his entire career, from a simple smuggler to the master of eastern Tamriels greatest criminal organization. The empire that Sarthan had created was far more powerful than most other organizations especially those in the same business. The Fighters guild were nothing but a minor annoyance at best, the local guards no better themselves. He was more powerful than anyone could imagine.

The hour grew late and Sarthan withdraw to his chambers. His room was nothing special. In the middle, there was a double bed with silk sheets. The walls were covered with tapestries with pictures of various star signs. He had never cared about such things as star signs, the tapestries served the only purpose of covering the ugly rock wall on which they hanged. His “palace” was an old fort that had been abandoned a long time ago. It had been made by the Chimer during the first era but had long since been abandoned only to be repopulated by vermin. It proved quite the task to clear it before it could be used as hideout, the rats had many hiding places.

It had been a long day for Sarthan, he fell asleep almost instantly after laying in the bed. Though his sleep was marred by nightmares of his past. He was a Telvanni and not just any Telvanni, he was the son of a mouth. His father had put a lot of energy to get his son educated, an education that Sarthan did not use fully. While Sarthan did learn a lot of magic, in fact, he was considered an expert in the arts of destruction and alchemy, he never pursued his magic career. He had always been a cunning man with ambitions beyond those promised by the Telvanni. The criminal path came natural to him, this was his real calling, or at least so he thought.

He woke up covered in sweat. It was still night and everyone was still asleep, except for a few guards. As he reached for a goblet with water the door to his room silently opened. Using an invisibility spell he vanish from sight, waiting for the visitor to reveal himself. Two men dressed in completely black with drawn blades snuck inside so silently they could be mistaken for shadows.
The armed men were not his own Sarthan. He felt his anger rising. Who dared send assassins at him! With a swift movement he set the assailants on fire. Screams of agony came from the two killers but soon the screams ended. Two guards that heard the noise ran to his room , asking what happened.

“Are you okay master?”
“Yes but not thanks to you “, he yelled at the two dimwits.
“We are so sorry mas...” the guards apologize was abrupted by Sarthans fist smashing his face.
“Take the bodies outside,” he roared “ I will deal with you tomorrow!”

As the guards dragged the bodies outside he cast a spell on the door to ensure that no one could enter. He went back to sleep, yet no sleep be found.
