45fps the best I can hope for on this rig?

Post » Fri Dec 04, 2009 8:36 am

System:

- i7 950 @ 3.07GhZ
- GTX 570 1.28GB (263.09 drivers)
- 8GB RAM
- Win7 64bit

Settings:

- Resolution: 1680x1050 (native)
- Shadows: Medium
- Textures: Medium
- All other graphical settings including vsync: Disabled

Multiplayer rame-rate according to FRAPS = 45

Anyone got anything comparable? I'm used to the old games like Quake/HL where a minimum of 60fps is needed for steady aim.

Sounds low. Comparison:

Laptop here! So everything is slower! Getting 75-100 FPS with this:

- i7 2820QM @ Stock 2.3GHz
- GTX 485M 2GB (270.61 WHQL)
- 16GB RAM (Doubt it makes a difference once we're past 4)
- Win7 x64

- Resolution: 1920x1080
- Shadown: High
- Textures: High
- Anti-Aliasing: Enabled
- Motion Blur: Enabled
- High Quality Post Processing: Enabled
- Ambient Occlusion: Disabled
- V-Sync: DIsabled

Enabling AO sends me into the 30s >_>

Me being on a lappie my GPU is probably comparable to yours - I've got more texture ram, but ill bet its slower than yours too. My CPU is deffo slower. Brink is a 32-bit app so it can use more than 4GB of ram, so ram dont matter ... so the only real difference is that your driver is rrreeeeaaaalllyyy old. Might be worth a try.

I get anywhere from 40-90 fps in-game with those settings (medium/1680x1050/everything disabled) and about 120 on the menu, so I would hope you could get better performance than me with that rig.

e6600 @3.4ghz
gtx260 270.61 driver
2gb ram
Win7 x64

However, I'm using the game's FPS counter as a reference, not FRAPS. com_showfps 1

Framerate is all over the place for me on my 6970. Sometimes it's well into the hundreds, sometimes it's down in the twenties. Mostly it hovers in the 40's and 50's though.

lmao... i get 45-60 on my ageing rig:
quad core extreme 3hgz
4gb ram
8800gtx
win7 64bit

textures high & post processing. occlusion kills it though! i also run a slightly higher res.

similar rig
-i7 2600k
-8 gb ram
-560ti
-win7 64
running at 1920*1080

get above 70 at all times, its a fresh install of win 7 if that makes any difference.
edit: was running like this since i first turned it on didn't need to make any changes

So confused.

Played today- hadn't changed any settings since yesterday, neither has the game been patched- and now I average 70fps.

Bizzare.

Are you sure you didn't have ambient occlusion on or something?

No, in fact I've since turned AO and tripple-buffered vsync on and it stays at 70fps (120Hz monitor)
