I must admit i love new vegas, the game blows me away with its content but the disapoinment comes from the freezing of the game after 10mb of saved game time, glitches i can handle but to sell a game that is unplayable on the ps3 and xbox format is shocking. and after many months of waiting the new patch does nothing for the game as this still happens. i do wonder if bethesda has employed lab rats to do there game testing or is it pound notes outway gamer satisfaction. my advice draw aline under new vegas bethesda and try again with a game that doesnt freeze like new vegas and skyrim does. but please dont make it as short as rage. many disapointments assasinpugs

Must be a console thing. Never had any savegame size issues on PC.

The ps3 version freezes quite often, but I've never experienced any game-breaking bugs. Whenever the frame rate drops I just quit the game and restart at the last save, after that the game is fine for about 30 minutes, then I restart again. The freezing is because of the way the ps3 stores data as you play, so most of the blame goes to Sony for making lousy hardware.

maybe so, sony can take some of the blame but surely this game shouldnt be sold. having to restart everytime it freezes just isnt right. my issue is this game gets tested by a team who pass it off, they must of spotted this flaw but yet bethesda still allowed the game to be sold for £40. i love new vegas, even went out and bought a pc just to play it without the frustration of the freezing. doesnt do much for the reputation of bethesda tho, new vegas, fallout 3 and skyrim with the same problems. and to top it off being given awards for them. that shocks me lol hey heres an award for a game that doesnt play lmao

Not everyone experiences these problems. That's how the game passes tests and wins awards. It's really not that bad to have to restart every half hour or so, it only takes two minutes. Keep in mind this only happens after you have a large save file (like a 10mb file) so if you start a new game there won't be many frame rate drops until the save file gets larger.

Also, when was the last time you started a new game?

ill agree it doesnt happen on the pc format, plays smooth for me there, but the ps3 and xbox definatley do. but restarting your playstation after a freeze can damage your console and your memory. but thats all hear say. you shouldnt have to do that. but keeping it in mind, to really enjoy new vegas and its dlc packs there is no option but to go over 10mb, just not possible not to do so. what your suggesting is play 2 games, and keep both under 10mb, thats just daft

Hmmm... I wonder, does waiting in place for three days, then saving the game result in a smaller save file?

As I understand it... every thing touched or tipped gets saved in the new position, but after three days much of the world resets, and most of that stuff reverts to its original location. You can stack tires in FO3 for instance, but given time, they disappear and reappear exactly where they were originally.... and the game doesn't need to save that.

Nope, I wasn't suggesting you start two new games; just pointing out that the freezing is related to the size of the save file. Also, when was the last time you started a new game? If it was after a patch was released then the fixes in that patch won't fully take place until you start a new game.

Gizmo: Thanks, I never thought of that. I'll test it out later today.
