Is a Dead-is-dead character viable on the Dead Money DLC?

Do you guys think it's even possible?

Yes.
I've done it.
You just need to be extremely patient.

Yes, you just have to be careful and have the right stats. And make sure you are at a high enough level to ensure maximum health.

I'd imagine it's pretty easy if you're level 50 and you know what you're doing with the collars.

I'm playing on normal/hardcoe at level 28, I've just finished gathering the other three survivors, haven't died(or come close to dying) yet and have learned that a lead pipe is surprisingly effective against them.

I've done it. Only time will tell if the character survives the rest of the game, but the Bear Trap Fist, Throwing Knife Spear, and Embrace of the Mantis King! are supremely effective against just about everything. Also worth mentioning is the Shovel, for it's supreme knockback.

Its possible, just insanely difficult.

Be patient with the collars or you will be killed.

I know that it's a unique Mantis Gauntlet added by the GRA, I'm just confused how he got it into Dead Money without the console...unless I have misinterpreted his comment?

I'm sorry, I should've been more clear...Embrace of the Mantis King! was the weapon I graduated to immediately after leaving Dead Money. Sort of an Unarmed pride, I guess. That'd be what I spent one of those Gold Bars on xP

Bear Trap fist was more than sufficient for every combat part of Dead Money except the speakers. God I hated the speakers on a Melee/Unarmed playthrough...

Okay, my mistake.

I haven't gone through Dead Money on an unarmed playthrough yet, but I can see that the limb damage bonus the Bear Trap Fist has would help a lot. When you did that playthrough did you not use any ranged weapons because the Police Pistol has a 0 Guns Skill requirement.

Honestly, I couldn't help but use a ranged weapon. Speakers made damn sure of that. I used one of the randomly spawned Laser Pistols instead of the Police Pistol, though. Given that the character had about ten points in both Guns & Energy Weapons, it made sense. I don't count Throwing Spears because I can't aim them outside of VATS due to my inexperience. Does the Police Pistol have less spread than the Laser Pistol by default?

Typically, I was critting every three out of four hits and killing all ghosts except Trappers on a critical with the Bear Trap Fist. Best part was that I didn't have to aim for center of mass like I do with Power Fists. VATS helped quite a bit, especially once I got Dog/God's perk. Course, a lot of that was Finesse, Better Criticals, Paralyzing Palm, Super Slam, Stonewall, Purifier, & all the other standard Unarmed perks.

Looking at the wiki it seems that the Laser Pistol is better then the Police Pistol if you're just using it for taking out speakers. They both have 0 skill requirements, but the laser pistol does have less spread.

Use one of the shotguns for the speakers. Easier to hit the damn things. Even better, DL the currier's stash after starting the DLC and have all those new nice toys in a wonderland you're not supposed to have them in.

I've got to try that.

I also heard Rawr's Talon stays in your inventory as well so you can have Fist of Rawr when playing Dead Money.

All quest marked items will stay in your inventory. Motorrunner's helmet is one that I can think of. There are a few others also.

Motor Runner's helmet and the missing laser pistol are the only ones that I can think of.

I also hate the new forum skin. Have you tried to link anything yet? The new system for that svcks.

The Rebreather will also stay in you inventory.

Exorince put a forum tweak up on the Community Discussion page a while ago, it improves it a lot.

I actually prefer the new way to link pages.

I've been using Exo's forum tweaks and yes it is much better. I found the old way to be a bit easier, but that's just me.

Is the Fist of Rawr thing confirmed? If so that would make Dead Money a hell of a lot easier for my unarmed character.

Dead-is-dead thread shows ~6-7 people who've completed the entire game without a death.

As people have said, you've just got to be patient, use your ears and use your brain. I always facepalm when I watch youtube vids of Dead Money playthroughs, someone walks into a room, hears their collar beep, so they decide to walk from corner to corner, inspecting the walls for a radio...You could...yknow, back up? Look around from the doorway? Use your ears and/or knowledge of the map to try and figure out where it is?

On my second go, i took Dog with me and whoever he didn't eat I killed with the Police Pistol and Cosmic Knife. It's very possible.

Ive done it several times. If you use implant GRX, anything in the game is super easy.

Oh god, I can not count how many times I have done it. Very fun each time (my opinion), though you quite litterly have to try & be Rambo.

That & sneak never hurt..
