Confused at the Strip?

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 8:35 pm

Hi, I have just made my way to the strip in new Vegas and I'm not sure what I should do next. I have confronted Benny at tops and killed him. (I also got into a big gun fight in there and killed all his security). I found his 'yes man' robot and started the quest where I need to choose if I want to take over Vegas myself and eliminate various factions, I also went to see Mr House and started the quest to return the platinum chip to him (which I now have after killing benny), I also spoke to the NCR who seem to want to control the strip themselves, have been asked to meet with Caesar at Fortification hill, which is also one of the places that the 'yes man' robot mentioned regarding the platinum chip... thats as much as I can remember off hand, they all seem to cross paths and I am not sure what is the best choice to make?? I try and keep my Karma good and keep the mass murder to a minimum (bad guys only). Is there a better choice with that in mind? thanks, Russ.

Good = NCR (Less deaths(Kill or Allie Fractions))
Nutral = Yes man (Kill or Allie with other factions)
Evil = Caesar. (Kill (mostly kill) or allie fractions)

you forgot Mr. House in that list....

Do what you want, find out about each of the sides and there plans and objectives and then help the one you like more. IIRC each side contacts you in some manner. after you turn in the chip.

There is no good, neutral, and evil faction.

You can be good, neutral, or evil in any of the four there are to choose from.

It depends on your morals as a person, so you're going to have to choose who you think is the best for the Mojave.

I personally chose Mr. House.

You can also take a different stance, and choose who you think is best for you and your goals, without concern for the Mojave. Like my frequent choice of the NCR just because it can be good for the Brotherhood of Steel. Happenstance that the Mojave gets a decent deal in the process. ;)

Do I have to eliminate some factions as Legion or can I get them to join us?

I don't think Caesar will tolerate the Brotherhood of Steel being around, and (I haven't played Legion, so I'm not certain) I doubt he'll tolerate the Boomers either. Too much tech, and he doesn't like that. I also don't know about the Great Khans, but I know he forbids chems, and the Khans primary activity is making and selling chems...so fair odds he'd want them gone too, though he may just use them as cannon fodder against the NCR first.

And I know he wouldn't like the Enclave Remnants.

I played the Legion a while back, and you can spare the Boomers. He has no qualms if you eliminate them though.

There really is no "bad" or "good" faction, although they all have their detriments. I personally favor a Vegas style Mojave(House or Independant). I don't think the NCR or Legion should have it. NCR is just a joke and the Legion is better suited for a harsher, lawless wasteland where shock tactics are appropriate.

The ONLY faction Ceasar wants gone is the pathetic BoS chapter. The others are optional - Boomers, Khans and Omertas (both already aligned) and the White Glove Society.
Legion - Pure Iron Fist "rebuilding" the Wastes.
House - Iron fist rebuilding only New Vegas.
NCR - Thieveing fingers robbing while "rebuilding" the Wastes.
I think that summed them up rather short and vaguely....

OP: talk to the leaders of the four main factions. they will tell you a little about their history and what they want you to do. take yes man's advice and meet with the other factions in the mojave. certain factions are philosophically opposed and simply cannot coexist. the mojave is yours to shape.

the legion will not spare any faction in the mojave. they will use the boomers, they will use the khans, but ultimately they will meet the same fate as the previous 86 tribes. ceasar will destroy them. that is the MO for the legion. it might not be represented in the end game slides, but it is inevitable nonetheless. ceasar even says it himself, the only way to build the legion and assimilate others into the legion, is to destroy their identity and their history. he will kill any who oppose, those that are too old, and those that are worthless to the legion's cause. the rest (typically impressionable youth) will be made slaves, procreation slaves, or soldier slaves.

ceasar will not keep the boomers and their firepower around. too big of a threat. the khans are petty thieves, raiders, and drug dealers. definitely not keeping them around. the omertas and white glove are two bit tribes inhabiting his 'new rome'. no chance they are staying.

Snip
Have you done their ending. Khans are just tribals like the 86 before and will have the same fate as them, the Boomers HOWEVER are in Caesar's eyes to powerful to attack and he leaves them alone - if you complete "Volare!" and get them the bomber.
The Enclave are also left to go on their way if Caesar is alive and they ally, he knows their power far surpasses his own.

The Khans are taken into the Legion "Though many Great Khans mourned the death of their tribe, many more were ultimately satisfied with their revenge against NCR." Of the fit people to join the Legion that doesn't sound that bad if they were happy.

Caesar is mericful to some, FotA for example are given safe passage out of the Mojave out of his respect for them and his past. They watch over most towns peacefully, not imposing heavy taxes like NCR.

If this is your first time playing, I would suggest whatever you like best, or if they all seem equal NCR as they have the most quests and (IMHO) funnest quest line.

And remember fellas, don't post spoilers!
