Post » Wed May 09, 2012 9:46 am

I don't know if this is the right place to put this topic so please move it if it's not.
So here is the question, will 850 euro's buy me PC that can play FN:V (preferbly on the highest settings)?
Do you guys have any tips?

Yes, assuming hardware prices aren't vastly inflated over in Europe, that should buy you a pretty amazing box (although it depends on whether you're building your own or going with a boutique vendor).

I run on highest settings with an AMD Phenom II Black quad core 3.0ghz (quite affordable) DDR2 ram, and a Radeon HD5770 video card (also quite affordable). That'll also run Skyrim on max settings without issue. The one real advantage of games being made for consoles primarily is that you don't need a cutting edge computer to run the newest games.

Gaming laptops are about $1000 now. That's pretty much the SRP (maybe $1100-$1200 without a sale or anything). You can go much higher for Alienware, but you don't need to.

I run on Ultra with some cheap hardware (cheap now, at least). This is a 4-year-old machine, but I did upgrade from a 9500GT to a GTX460.

Intel Core2Quad 2.4GHz (I've OC'd it to 3.0GHz and it makes quite a bit of a difference)
G.SKILL 4GB DDR800 (5-5-5-15)
NVIDIA GTX460 (Overclocked to 800/1600/2000)

You can play New Vegas on normal/high settings with a budget E200 - E300 laptop in most cases, or an extra E100 for hardware upgrades.

I assume that if my laptop could run Fallout 3 easily, it shouldn't have a problem with New Vegas?

My bad laptop costs 300 $: can run FO:NV on medium settings

My good laptop is 500$: can run FO:NV on ultra settings.

My 1,400$ gaming PC is overkill on FO:NV

So I'm guessing a 400$ laptop can run FO:NV on high settings.

A 540 is an economy card. It's new enough that it'll run stuff, only older things at high settings, but it's still a big heap of garbage. With NVidia cards from the 200 series and up, you want it to be a X50 model or better.

I'll also add that it may depend on whether or not you use mods and which mods you choose to use. Throw in high texture packs and/or extra creature spawns and you'll start hurting with a lower end PC.

I orderd me this one today

HP Pavilion dv6-6b55eg

Comes with a 2GB 6770m and an i7-2670qm on a 15.6'' screen.
It runs Skyrim on 1366x768(the display resolution) High Preset 8xAA 8xAF with 29FPS minimum, up to 60.
Should be good enough for FNV then.
It retails for around 720-780€, depending on the dealer.
Its HDD is slow, so I ordered me a SSD in addition.
