Marcus Brutus?

Was there ever supposed to be a Brutus type character? I think it would have been a cool quest to kill Caesar in a historical manner instead of just gunning him down.

Upon reading the name of this thread I got this weird mental image of Marcus the supermutant stabbing Caesar to death.

Anyways, it would have been interesting to have a quest that offered a more historic death for Caesar, but imo it would have been kind of a cliche. I mean, the Legion replicates ancient Rome militarily and in some ways socially/politically, but it really wouldn't make sense for the death of Caesar to replicate the death Julius Caesar.

I asked JE Sawyer on Formspring whether or not a Brutus type character was ever planned, so maybe we'll see an answer there, but my take on it is that the devs wanted to write their own story for the Legion rather than copying history too much.

Edit: And there is the quest "Et Tumor Brute," so there was a reference to Brutus, or rather Shakespeare's take on Brutus and the whole assassination.

In some senses you can be that Brutus, since you can
Spoiler
botch up Caesar's tumour operation thus killing him
The reason it could be seen as such is to do something so sensitive indicates a lot of trust in you from the Legion and Caesar himself.

Would've been an interesting role for Vulpes, don't you agree? There's far too little interaction with him anyway.

However, I prefer to give him a fighting chance. Myself versus him, Lucius, Vulpes and his Praetorians. Getting killed in his own tent with his very own bodyguards unable to do anything about it.

Spoiler
After which I go on to rain down nuclear missiles on his territory. God I love FO:NV.

Julius Caesar never ruled in the Roman Empire. His death led to the fall of the Republic, sure, but as I say, he was never an Emperor. I assumed that despite Sallow's similarities to Julius Caesar, his new name was taken from the title adopted by Roman Emperors.

He does make references to Julius Caesar, even saying that the Colorado river is his Rubicon.

Ever wonder why Vulpes' body goes missing when he dies? I'm hoping he'll be in the next Fallout installment! Maybe he was never really killed

Yeah. But Brutus assassinated Caesar in order to stop his tyranny and save the Republic. As Caesar's Legion was established as an autocracy, having somebody named Brutus organise a kill on Edward would be irrelevant, except from the fact that Brutus did kill Julius Caesar.

But I guess it wouldn't matter, since Sallow isn't really emulating Julius Caesar despite what he says.

What he has seemed to have handily glossed over while he was learning up on Roman society is that a conquered nation was allowed to keep their own culture, religion and freedom as long as they pledged their allegiance to Rome.
