If Caesar died, who'd lead the Legion?

Caesar Vulpus Inculta, without any doubt.

Lanius when it comes down to it is a big goody-goody, that has some quirked views on killing people. All that "dishonesty is a dishonorable way of victory."

Well how upright of you buddy. Maybe after you crucify some peoples you can at least say hey. Honesty.

Doesn't get you much, by oh well.

I don't think Sun Tsu beat a force outnumbered over 6-to-1, by saying quote "All war, is based on honesty."

Losing a war honestly, is still losing. No matter if you can wage a good battle. You hedge your bets beforehand.

Nipton wouldn't been cut down to the last man through fear alone, searchlight wouldn't of been flawlessly defeated in one move, with the tactics of Lanius.

He's best for the Legion right where he is, as a brutal field commander and a general. Winning battles. Not much use to me otherwise though.

Lanius is the Sonny Corleone of the Ceasar's Legion.

Lucius is similarly so; good in his station and legion role he plays. Keeps the praetorian guard loyal to the leader. Beyond which I would see him as out of his element.

Vulpes to me has all the makings for what an effective Caesar would be called to need. The plotting, thinking, conniving head to the legion's body.

He is the Michael Corleone of the Legion.

????

What is this?

I don't think Vulpes could inspire loyalty in the Legion whereas Lucius could. I actually think that Vulpes is pretty good in the role he's in now. I could see Lucius being a viable Caesar, Vulpes is too snake-like for such a title.

That being said, CL civil war sounds amazing. :touched:

I'd like to see Vulpes take control of the Legion. Under him the Legion would be born anew. They could negotiate, formulate strategies, and infiltrate an enemy more effectively and not lose their heads when their commander dies or is incapacitated.

No-Bark

He's spoken to cave rats who've taught him a spell to turn toy bears into their true form.

Truly he is the chosen one.

All hail No-bark, long may he reign over the Legion in prosperity and lunacy.

I actually think that he's the type of person who wouldn't want to command the Legion. He's perfectly suited to his position and seems content in his place. He seems like that sort of person who has no interest in power.

This is certainly true, he does seem content and is very effective where he is. Although, he would be a good commander and he could mold a new Legion. I think a more effective one if anything. They could leave at least some of their brutality behind and wouldn't have to rely on sheer strength/numbers.

But this is just my speculation. I could see Lucius taking the reigns with great success. He, along with Vulpes and Lanius would be a force for sure. Though a Legion without Caesar would need a new figurehead to rally behind and I'm not sure who of those three, if anyone at the Fort, could take that role.

Who is third in command though?
Lucius is the leader of the Praetorian Guard and Vulpes is the top Frumentarii, but neither are next in rank as far as I know to become Caeasr.
Lucius would be 3rd since the Praetorians are higher ranking than the Centurions, hence why they are Caesars personal guards. It would make sense for them to take over in Lanius' place.
