Predictions for community made maps& content: What to expect

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 6:42 pm

This has been on my mind since April and I figured I'd make a thread about it, I've been imagining possible map locations and mod opportunities for Crysis 2 and I'll be quite honest, I see several potential ideas floating around.
So I've decided to call out my predictions of what might be in store in the next month or two. What lights might flicker on when things start rolling.

[*]Holland Tunnel this one came to mind because of the possibilities for TIA and possible vehicle combat that could be seen with CryNet Ops vehicles and local NYPD vehicles. Perhaps they could pull what Marko "Psycho" Filberich did with Frost and perhaps put a "CryNet" bomb in a real intense part of the map that could blow a section of the tunnel and drown all of the players by firing two JAWS at it. Or have it set to a specific kill requirement to be able to do it.

[*]Yankee Stadium: No steroids here just plan old Nanites. I imagine that we'll see this developed as a possible pro-map for snipers with the outside parking lot being a firefight with deploy-able cover.

[*]Bronx Zoo: Lions, Tigers, the..Nano-suits?...Oh My! Perhaps sectioned off areas or split maps. Perhaps will see some animals also (Possibly Turtles and their cousins from Crysis? Imagine coming to a section of the map and reading a plaque that says "The last species of the Lingshan Island turtles rescued a year before the Banana and Warhead Crysis")
Image

[*]Federal Reserve: granted, Wall Street is covered, perhaps an expanded map going a little more in-depth. Perhaps in the tone that Die Hard 3 did, featuring the subway. Perhaps being able to kick gold containers and smashing a enemy to his death? Perhaps also big dump trucks that are drivable and have a crap ton of gold in them?

[*]Tactical map: Brooklyn Bridge: featuring an old ability from Crysis and Warhead Oh and Wars!: Climbing yes! Climbing up a ladder to the top of the bridge to get back into the fight!

Well this is just a small taste of what I've been pondering. Lets hear from you guys and lets see (and predict) what can be achieved with the CryEngine 3 within the coming months.

Now I know that CrEAtek is asking money for maps I don't expect anything of the modtools.

Maybe we could only make mods por singleplayer o any retarded thing similar.

Has no one come up with other possible maps for MP yet? Am I the only one that's been thinking about this?

I have posted in another thread about possible maps for mods that it would be cool
to have famous Landmarks of different nations... Are the aliens invading the U.S. only?

How about air stomp from the Eiffel Tower.. (that would probably heart but anywayz...)
...sniping in the Great Wall of China....
...Red Square..
..Parthenon..

The list goes...on and on...

On another note...
An alien Ceph Space Station would probably be awesome too...
Ceph planet maps also?..

Won't happen for ages guys for a mod tool. While DLC is being produced and bought, they won't release it. It will get released when the game is officially dead.

Actually very soon. Apparently you haven't been keeping tabs with current events.
The Sandbox Editor will be out next month.
Plus in August the SDK will be released.

All of these ideas are great. Really would like to see a ton of NYC landmarks made into Crysis 2 maps and Yankee Stadium, Holland tunnel and the Bronx Zoo is a great start! There was previous thread in which I detailed other locations...

I'm a bit sick with new-york, let's face it it's a grid designed city with blocky skyscrappers. What about a ceph base (orbital or subteran), some old ruined castle, even a canyon based map could be fun...
