Reloading Bug

Post » Sat Dec 05, 2009 4:15 pm

Quick question-- Any mods tackle this bug yet?

I've scoured Nexus and searched this forum to no avail. I find it to be so antagonizing that I'm opting to wait until it's resolved or a work-around is established.

It can be easily recreated by firing any number of rounds from weapons that involve "1-round-at-a-time reloading" that can be interrupted by firing. When you prompt a reload, or it occurs automatically, make sure you are moving. When the weapon has finished fully reloading you will be unable to take any actions for about 1-2 seconds.

The remedy to this problem is to discontinue use to roughly 1/2 of the guns in the game, or stop moving every time you reload.

I have this bug too, but I don't have perk. I think it's engine bug and it can be problematic to solve...

I just created a fresh new save on a fresh install fully patched and consoled in a Trail Carbine. I can confirm it is present without the perk.

EDIT: I'm actually holding off playing until this bug is fixed, it has something to do with my play-style in which I'm always tripping over it. :cryvaultboy:

If anyone is interested in picking this up I'll gladly shower you with my love and praise.

How high is your agility? I believe there is a variable people found where it increases reload speed.

Luck? :P If you have got good reflexes and can stop reloading by pressing Left Mouse Button to shoot, then it will stop reloading and won't bug.

EDIT: I have 8 agility and have this bug, on around level 14 I took that Fast Loader perk and bug is still present.

With 4 agility and no perk my 357 still hangs. Same with 5 agility and perk.

Are you sure you're recreating this bug properly?

Move while you reload to full with a 357 magnum, the moment the gun has reached the full reload and rests in the normal position on your screen try to fire/pipboy/vats and you won't be able to.

Does Gun skill modify reload speed as well?

Only thing I noticed is I get the bug when I'm moving and reloading these weapons. When I stand still I dont get the bug. Will do more testing to be sure.

when you get the bug in FP stand still and go to 3rd person, i think something is messed up with the animation or something because my character tries to slowly move on its own to the left, but only when i move to 3rd person while the bug is present.

I can confirm this bug as well with both my Cowboy Repeater and Lever Action Shotgun. I do not have anything that affects my reload speed.

The bug also likes to screw up iron sight aiming sometimes.

Weird thing is, sometimes the bug triggers while I'm moving while reloading and sometimes it doesn't.

Can only confirm what is already clear.

After reloading weapons, they are stuck 3-5 seconds without possibility to fire or to use iron sig.

I have perk, but same thing occurred without it....

Hopefully we see this patched soon. The Bug List in PC Support has about 5 people reporting it, more than any other specific bugs.

In the mean time, I'll seriously pay donate money to get someone to fix this bug. I literally can't play with it in it's current state. :cryvaultboy:

I personally don't agree with the thought that the game is unplayable due to this bug, but I certainly agree that it is extremely annoying - enough that I'd be willing to throw a few bucks into the donation pot for a good solid fix. *sigh*

IDEA!

Perhaps it's a jam animation that isn't actually playing correctly? Has anyone seen one of these weapons jam on reload? (eg the Service rifle - he works the bolt a few times)

This may be my mind playing tricks on me, but I think it happens more with weapons below the repair/maintain threshold.

Anyone want to compare a trashed .357 to a pristine one?

I've got users reporting a similar bug in my bullet-time mod that changes the reload/draw speeds, so I imagine it's a flaw in how the game speeds up animations .

One possible solution (not a fix):

Change weapons when you have 1 round left, and change back.

Not immersive, but at least you don't just sit there getting shot and can't do anything about it.

another solution is to pop into third person, bug still happens but it gets rid of it quicker

As annoying as this bug is, I'm guessing it isn't something that can be easily fixed by a mod.

Gut instinct says to wait for an official patch. :(
