Sounds like we will be the hero again.

But we don't really know yet.

Umm, in Morrowind you spent 85% of the game convincing people you were the Nerevarine and running through Foyada' and Ashlands; people didn't instantly see you and say "It's Nerevar Indroil reborn!"

I'd rather be a reincarnation than a random guy, but I honestly would prefer something new.

I'd prefer Daggerfall's take on the main character.

I hope I get to be the hero (like in Morrowind), and not the hero's sidekick having to do his dirtywork (like in Oblivion).

Five words:

- We do not know yet! -

Everything else is just pure speculation. All the people who are starting to expect stuff, speculation usually being based on wishfull thinking and often causing some sort of expectancy, are just setting themselves up for disappointment.

I'm hoping that we play as Dovahkiin, a Shezzarine (avatar of Lorkhan, or 'Shor' to the Nords) and we have to unify and defend Skyrim from the invading Ka Po' Tun, some of whom have successfully transformed themselves into dragons. Tosh Raka, the leader of the Ka Po' Tun, is the avatar of Akatosh.

To be honest I don't think in Morrowind you were the actual Nerevarine destined to save the land, nor do I think you'll be Dovahkiin in Skyrim; your character will just be the guy that happened to have enough resolve and luck to save the damn day.

Since when is Oblivion's PC humble and simple? You start off as a prisoner (as usual) get out, then find and save the prince and you're already on track to be a hero. Hardly simple.

Well since the trailer depicts Dovahkiin, I don't think we'll be playing as him, as it would already make us a male non-beast race. Really just taking away character creation.

Of course we will be the hero. It is an Elder Scrolls game.

Guys, when I heard this was announced, I crapped, ironed, and puked all at the same time. Best feeling ever :D

Yeah not really, my father played through the main quest when I was younger and I didn't since I suffered from a severe case of altitis. So I shouldn't be making statements like that, sorry.

I'm pretty sure we'll be the Dovahkiin. Even though the mural shows a male non-beast race, I'm going to believe that it's open to interpretation. People complained enough that we weren't the true hero of Oblivion, and continued to praise the storyline of Morrowind. I'd like to believe Bethesda learned from that feedback and tailored a game that once again features the player as the center of an epic storyline.

As for everything else, I'm going to avoid speculating. There really isn't enough evidence to indicate storyline details yet. I'm sure when we do figure out the storyline, it will match the details on the mural, but until then there is simply too much possibility to make assumptions. I'm gonna wait for GI.
