TES IV Jobs

Post » Thu Dec 10, 2009 6:00 am

Kinda boring on the boards now. Okay while waiting for TES V and the Fallout NV patch ;) how about a discussion topic.

Aside from nobility (ie counts, emperor, etc) who do you think as the best and worst (non-player character NPC) job in Cyrodiil. Either a specific person or a general type of job.

Right now I'm thinking Raminus Polus has the best job. He's got a very high rank in the Mage's Guild (Master Wizard) and so probably gets great perks and pay, and yet he seems to spend most of his day chatting or reading in the Lobby. He gets to tell others what to do, sells some spells. He doesn't have to deal with the snooty professors or the politics of the counsel much either. And despite numerous threats to the guild and the world, he doesn't put himself in danger.

Worst job might be Sheogorath's chamberlain Haskill, for obvious reasons.Though I kind of wonder how Jollring feels about working for his Altmer employer Umbarcano - Nords don't like Altmer right? -- but I guess he's getting paid a bundle.

So how about the other jobs: Tavern Owner, Inn Keeper, City Guard, Forrester, Slop Drudge, Guild Hall lead, Necromancer, Bandit, Dremora Lord, Farmer, Vintner, Priest of the Nine, Shop Keeper, Beggar, Assassin, Smuggler, Shipmaster, Pirate, High Chancellor etc, etc.

What do you think of the employment situation in TES IV (Cyrodiil, Shivering Isles, other Oblivion planes)

Uuras the Shepherd has the best job. The sheep are totally trained not to need his attention, and he gets all the cheese he can eat. Wine and Tomatoes are plentiful in the area and both go well with cheese. For that matter, any of the horse dealers has an easy life, as the horses don't need their stalls cleaned out in Tamriel, like they would here.

For worst, maybe Norasa Adus. She's at Hermaeus Mora's shrine, up in the ice and snow of the Jeralls, without any furs or thick robe, and there's nowhere to sleep either.

I think one of the best jobs in Cyrodiil is that of an Imperial Forester. :)

Savlian Matius has the worst job. Guarding that barricade day and night against Daedra, and waiting for a scared little elf to help him figure out how to close that gate. :(

Unemployment in Cyrodiil is at an all time low thanks to this 'absent emporer' and the lack of a centralized govt. :)

I really think that Viranus Donton has the best job in Cyrodiil. He gets hired protection, credit for doing tons of good deeds, and all he really has to do is slap around a few trolls.

His family svcks, but his job is totally sweet.

It's not the worst job in my game. He's got a (admittedly wrecked and still burning) ducal castle to himself to share with Tierra (who survived the assault).

I agree Haskill as the worst job, as for the best job I would go with Viranus Donton as well

I think the guy who owns the Gottshaw Inn has it pretty good. Hanging out with a cool Legionaire, drinking and stuff. He owns a pretty decent size inn, too, so it seems good to me.

Haskill can't die though, can he? I'm going with being a slop drudge for worst job lol.

Haskill might want to die, I'm guessing. But Sheogorath won't let him.

Slop Drudge sounds like a good job to me. Just through some slop in cages whenever you feel like then goof off the rest of the day.

I also think some of the Inn/Tavern Keepers have nice jobs. Particularly for some of the wilderness inns.

Inn Keepers have great jobs, and so do Shepherds. The sheep don't do anything.

Imperial Legion Foresters have crummy jobs. I mean, they hunt each other instead of deer... Very macabre. :P Haskill's job I would really really not want. Poor Haskill!

The best jobs, in my opinion, are most of the Mage-related jobs. I would love to be an Alchemist, or an Illusionist.

Worst? Beggar. Only ONE person in the entire of Cyrodiil will ever even consider giving them money.

Regarding mudcrabs...

And even Warlords are so in awe of you they "steer clear!"

But mudcrab is not really a job. A mudcrab merchant would be a job, but I haven't found one yet in Cyrodiil.

I think Ranoline has one of the worst jobs in Cyrodiil. Cooking at a dive like the Lonely Suitor must be awful. Look at her dialogue: "I have always found the wrong sort of friends. Now I do without"

Selena Orania in the Bruma Mages Guild. She has to put up with that idiot Jeanne Frasoric as a boss, not to mention Laurel and Hardy.

Those gals never stop, never eat or sleep and get chased and attacked by everything that walks, crawls or f@rts...

I would say Dyus. Sitting there, he's immortal and has to stay in knifepoint hollow the rest of his life...

I raise my claws to you, and click them in celebration of your wisdom. Wait, why is that combat music playing? Hey, put away that bow! :bolt:

Maybe Fathis Ules for best job, or at least one of them. Just ask him about the "Imperial City" topic. Richest fence in the game.
Worst job has gotta be http://www.uesp.net/wiki/File:SI-npc-Dyus.jpg form Knifepoint Hallow in the Shivering Isles. As per UESPWiki, "Long ago, he was the Keeper of the Library of Jyggalag and Jyggalag's chamberlain, and is now imprisoned in Knifepoint Hollow. Sheogorath gave him immortality so the secrets of Jyggalag would be kept forever."
