How to make textures

Post » Sat Dec 12, 2009 5:15 am

hey I was wondering how to make textures. They seem to be in weird formats like dds which I can not edit with anything I tried (lol paint and Adobe Photoshop CS4) could someone please shine some light on this for me?

(lol paint and Adobe Photoshop CS4)

photoshop has a dds plugin.

iirc, most of the textures can be found on the CS disk. in tga format.

iirc means "if I remember correctly" IIRC :D

and I guarantee that you cannot just rename it. You have to have the dds plug-in for photoshop or I think gimp can handle saving as this format (but don't shoot me if I'm wrong ;) )

You might be interested in the utility http://eliteforce2.filefront.com/file/DDS_Converter;29412 - which converts from most formats such as tga or bmp to DDS

Texture sizes in Morrowind need to be set to specific sizes such as 32x32 64x64 128x128 256x256 512x512 1024x1024 or you can have variations of these such as 1024x512 or 256x512

If you are keen on retexturing Morrowind and do not already have it I recommend Nifskope

All the best
