Fallout referance in Futurama

Post » Sat Dec 12, 2009 9:30 pm

hey I was just watching futurama, into the wild green yonder (something like that) and at one part of the show there was a robot that was insanely close looking to a protection, has anyone else noticed this?
oh and in another episode of futurama, where they all go down into the sewer, the mutants that live in the sewer worship an undetonated atomic bomb (like in megaton), oh and this probably isn't a reference, but in futurama there is a city called new vegas

The sewer thing is more likely a Planet of the Apes reference. (Specifically: Beneath the Planet of the Apes)

The Protectron thing might be it. Though it reminds me of the robot in Lost in Space

no this was just like a protectron, except there was a clear class dome on the top, like the shape of a protectron, and it had a robot head in it
and yeh the episode was kinda old so it could have been a planet of the apes, I just thought that was a cool coinsidence

That would be Robby the Robot. Who was also an inspiration for the protectrons.

In my opinion, Futurama is a pretty good idea of what the US might have been like had the great war not happened. Obviously the 50s play a huge role in the style of Futurama, and all the SCIENCE! the professor engages in falls right into the Fallout realm. Love the series, can't wait for the new seasons to start.

Fallout is actually a mash-up of popular Sci-Fi culture, as is Futurama.

Me too. Though since fallout gains alot of deas from other science fiction and such, they probrably use the same source and their references are a bit different.
