No textures, or crappy textures

Post » Sat Dec 12, 2009 2:35 pm

Let me start first by saying that my computer is fully up to date with all drivers and software required, and more than meets the system requirements for this game.

So my problem is that when I am playing, the game set my graphics setting to Ultra, and when I get in, I get very poor textures.

-My guns have no texture along the sides, it's just metal, nothing else.
-My Pip-Boy is weird. The 3 sections along the bottom that tell you what pages you are on, are all blurry, I couldn't read it for the life of me. All of the stuff on the Pip-Boy screen itself is totally readable, but not anything else there.
-When I am talking to somebody, the background behind them goes completely blurry and it's a pain to look at.

I don't know what to do. I had this problem with Fallout 3 as well.

My specs are:
Windows 7
6gb RAM
1gb 5770 Radeon Graphics Card
i7-Core Processor

I have the computer necessary to run this game well, but those textures are quite annoying!!

Think you could post a screenshot of what you mean, because it's entirely possible that it's just how the game looks. It uses really pixelated and blurry textures at the best of times, and downright horrendous messes of textures most of the time.

For the background blurring, that would be the depth of field effect. Turn it off in your launcher options.

I also am experiencing the pip boy texture/weapon problem that he is describing and its not how the game looks or is intended to look, i promise. I'm using the steam version.

I had to sign up just to post this

im also having these pip-boy texture problems along with the rocks and weapons

but the pip-boy really has me up a wall right now...ive tried everything i could to get the textures back to normal and ive had no luck at all

so if anyone could tell me how or why these textures get like this please let me and other know and if you know how to fix them please again tell us

some info...all drivers are current...game is a fresh install (reinstalled 3 times)...game is using High settings for video (video settings are saving)...game runs smoothly sans the texture problem

here is a screenshot to show what im talking about...you will notice the pip-boys metal textures are VERY flat and the text is blurred enough so you cant even read it

Check if you have mipmap settings to highest.
Right click your desktop and open CCC(Catalyst Control Center)

In CCC
Graphics - 3D - Mimap - Set to "High Quality"

Idk if this setting is your problem, but i remember having this setting to lowest and every game i played had washed out textures.

What he said. It's funny because my settings were all high, but apparently got turned down somehow... I don't know how.

But thank you!!
