Game crashed; didn't save?

So.... I was playing for about 25 minutes, saving frequently since I knew I'd eventually crash to desktop. I get to nick's (or is it neil's?) shack, chat him up, decide NOT to go up black mountain, turn around, crash to desktop, open the game back up only to find that my saves didn't count for squat. Not the quicksaves or the autosaves. Fricken how!? That makes no sense!!

I mean, the quicksave I could understand. Maybe I hit the wrong button or my wireless keyboard needs new batteries or the function lock... whatever. But the autosave? I went in and out of buildings at sloan and slept three times! What the heck!?

Am I supposed to have both a .FOS and a .FOS.BAK file for quick/autosaves in my save folder?

I could deal with the frequent crashes and the fact that my system should be able to run this at high without an FPS of 15 yet still does, but if the save function doesn't even work.....

Autosaves and quicksaves are broken. Here's the only practical workaround at the moment:

Open the dev console with ~ . Type savegame "game name here" . A new save file with that name will be created; you can access it again for easy saving by opening the dev console and hitting UP ARROW, which recalls the last command you inputted. Best workaround atm. Make sure to type the command EXACTLY as I posted it.

Hope this helps!

Interesting. I did the d3d9.dll fix everyone has been talking about on here and not only did my framerate jump through the roof, but I didn't have a single crash. I hope that fixed the problem for me. I'm gonna go back and make sure. I saved through the menu also just to be sure.

Edit: Thank god I did the "hard save"!!!!

My heart sank when my quicksave was all the way back at sloan. Luckily the hard save was up to date. Now to copy that save to desktop just in case......
