Hi all,

I've been having some problems locating a single black soul gem. I've worked my way through a few necromancer caves with no success. After that I failed I attempted to create one myself using a Grand Soul Gem, Soul Trap and an Alter that was active with purple light. For some reason after casting the Soul Trap spell the Gem remained Grand and not Black.

So my question(s)...

> Where can I locate a black soul gem?

> What have I done wrong in the creation process?

Black Soul Gems are uncommon loot found on Necromancers. The best method is to make them yourself. The main reason why it may not have worked is because the soul gem must be empty. The rest of the info can be found here.. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Black_Soul_Gem
